Bringing out the feminist in me. I have to say, first of all LOVE TRANSFORMERS the move first and foremost. But what completely ruined it for me were the women. Or to be more precise the objectification of women!!!! I want to talk so much on how the movie was so well made, but I just can’t get over this sad fact that the silver screen and ‘MEN’ love to objectify the women. How many have you actually want to watch Transformers PURELY because you are childhood fans of the show and want to watch the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out in whirlwind of fantastic animation and CG graphics (Ok I admit to having little faith at first in the movie but I take it back – Michael Bay you’re brilliant! – but that’s another entry) Any case back to my original arguments. This is what has happened. People are actually going and saying goodbye to Jessica Alba because they have found a new being called Megan Fox (yes she’s the heroine in the movie). Anyway that’s what i heard on Hitz.FM anyhow… so Yeah GF of Rudy please go whack him while i whack mine! Honestly she Megan Fox, in all honesty did not a super duper role in the movie. She was necessary on some account but, I’m sorry to say it but, she’s just going down the trail of yet another celebrity that is known for her beauty (nothing wrong of course). Why can’t the females want to be known for their abilities. Other than just being hot!!!??? I’m rather impressed with Alba though that she wishes to be looked on for her acting skills other than the bombshell catgory. Look at how the girls are degraded to FHM. Really!!! I mean look at this!!!!!???? It’s like a no brainer… Transformers vs Objectification of Women???

Seriously!!!!!!!!!!????????????????Someone next to me is already saying I’m contradicting myself. But realllyyy!!! ………………………………. I’m subjecting myself to a lot of people going for the later aren’t I? Sighh….
Can anyone notice, that my posts have been barren of late? Well yeah, I have been rather busy of work. Or more so bogged at work. I got this event coming up, I have an interview which is really important for me coming up too. I’ve got a million things to do and now i hear there’s more. Sigh, there’s so much that i want to do-work related BTW -and i can’t move it until this thing is finished. Well I must say that it is all fun to some extent. But even still it’s a lot. So I’m ALLOWED to make some noise and complain  about it! Anycase, that event i mentioned. It is Rock Genesis, a rock concert for the independent bands in Malaysia, and most of the cash is going to go to a charity to build a hospice for the community who are having a problem ith AIDS. The bands being featured are like so:
  1. Dragon Red (GOOO AMIL!!!- monash compadre la)
  2. One Buck Short
  3. Tempered Mental
  4. Seven
  5. Flow
  6. Ask Me Again
  7. Defyne
  8. Beat The System
  9. H.I.X
And so far these are the working posters for it.
This was the headline of an article in TheStar not too long ago, regarding the case on Lina Joy’s appeal to change her religion from Islam to Christian in her identity card. Read that article here. It is sad that Lina was not able to get the ok sign by the court to change her religion status. But possibly there are more underlying things at hand instead of just that situation? Not looking at this in terms of a Muslim converting to Christianity, but more so on where is the tolerance, understanding and freedom, that a person is meant to have. Having denied her appeal for a change, of course people are going to question why the court decided as such? They have already accepted that she has converted to a different religion and they have also permitted her to change her name in her IC. So why not allow her religion status to be changed as well on paper? There are a few ways this could be interpreted. One that all the talk of being understanding and tolerant to one another could be just a farce. Two because of the topic ‘religion’ and especially between Islam and Christianity, were there any suspicious agendas on the list? There are claims that there are none… Three, does the government just want to prove a point that their authority is sovereign? Or that there can’t be any argument made on this matter, because the topic is taboo. Just because there are Inter-religion talks doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone is being open and tolerant. Half the time in MYO anyway, it is all talk. It’s said to be a political decision, and like I stated before, what political decision? For a democracy, shouldn’t the citizens of the country have a right to their free will, their beliefs and rights? I may have possibly gotten the facts wrong on the case, but I didn’t follow it as closely.. so forgive me on that. ***Disclaimer** It’s a draft, and I’m putting it up anyway cause its my thought, and had to release some tension on how I’m once again annoyed by something.. So if you made it to the disclaimer…thanks a lot for reading ^_^
I was honestly having a crap day in the morning. But then I saw a walk down memory lane at uni. For those at Monash they are finishing of the last days of the exams. And one of me mates, Kel li, took a walk down the times we had in Monash. As much as they can be consider crazy, immature and “what have you”, it was a fun time. Here’s the link to her Monash Memory Lane. And i’ll just fill in the blanks :P

Village of Sukau Kinabatangan Orang-Utan Conservation Project, Hutan, will mark World Environment Day 2007 celebration with the local communities of the Kinabatangan Floodplain, Sabah, Malaysia. The Kinabatangan floodplain in northern Borneo harbours a rich natural heritage including one of the largest orang-utan populations in Sabah. Over the past decades however, habitat degradation and escalating human-wildlife conflicts have increasingly threatened many rare species and is now also affecting the traditional way of life of the local community. The Kinabatagan Orang-Utan Conservation Project (KOCP) is an initiative by the Kinabatangan community, the French NGO Hutan and the Sabah Wildlife Department. Over the past ten years, we have been working to involve the local people in the conservation-oriented management of the Kinabatangan wetlands. For the first time, the KOCP will celebrate World Environment Day on 5 and 6 June with all the villages of the region. Villagers will visit exhibitions on the local natural heritage, its current conservation status and threats. Children will participate in games and competitions and see puppet shows and films. Visitors will be taken along educational jungles trails and will participate in the forest restoration effort by planting of native tree seedlings in degraded forest areas. The “Fishermen for Conservation” programme and community-based ecotourism initiatives will also be presented. The celebrations will be concluded by a competition of decorated river boats on the theme of “Kinabatangan wildlife and forest”.
