Hehe going out to my friend Erin – Confessions of A Paradoxical, whom I am so proud that she managed to upgrade her WordPress from and older version to WordPress 2.2.1. Erin was busy trying to find a new template, and was having the same prob like most of us when it comes to templates, which is why some of us opt to just design out own. So I stayed up at 2 in the morning to hep her settle the prod, lol. I honestly sometimes get scared when I am upgrading my WordPress to a newer version, cause well you never know what is going to happen, even if you do backup hehe. Upgrading WordPress is fairly easy. I sometimes cheat by just saving my htaccess and my wp-content, and my wp-config. Please do not I repeat i do not follow what I do. lol. Things you must have before upgrading. 1. FireFTP for Firefox or any FTP program 2. Have your new WordPress File already downloaded and unzipped. 3. Backup all your files from your server. (**especially HTACCESS, WP-CONTENT folder AND WP-CONFIG.php – which I’ll call HWW) Ok now go on ahead to the wordpress codex page and read on. lol Step 1 Go to your plugins page and DEACTIVATE all your plugins to avoid some computer mishap. Step 2 After you have your FTP all set up connect to your server, I’m using Fireftp. So click on Manage Accounts which is on the far left and key in your details under ‘New’. Key in the new Account Name, you host name, your login and password for your server. Then when done click connect. Step 3 Now go to your WordPress folder which should be in public html (if I’m not mistaken) and delete the files that you are going to upgrade all accept for HWW. And anything else which you think is neccessary like favicons and what not. Step 4 After replacing all the files, now key in this line into your address bar. Run the upgrade program at http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/upgrade.php. This e.g. updates your database. Its only in one step and tada you are done ^_^. Now go and activate back all your plugins and have an ice cream for doing it on your own hehe. For those who have template inspiration issues, I shall put up a list of links which I hope will be helpful and useful to you as they were for me.

I did not want to make it a big deal, but yes i really do!!! Cause I’m going for the Global Brand Forum and all thanks to McCann for sending me to the workshop that allowed me to meet with the speaker and from there a bigggggggggg thank you to Mr Karthik Siva himself who is the CEO of the Global Brand Forum. I’m going to enjoy this forum, just simply because I am going to be listening to extremely well knowledgeable people who have been in the branding and marketing industry for a long time and of course the one I’m most looking forward to is hearing Al Gore speak. Even as much as some people think there maybe under lying intentions to what he is doing now, doesn’t matter what they are, but just purely from hearing him speak via his film in Inconvenient Truth and looking at the other works that he has done. I’d hate to think if all that has an underlying agenda. Even still no one can deny that he has single handedly managed to finally tell people about the situation of Global Warming. Aat least now people are more aware of the issue and there are bodies and companies that are helping to make that difference. Back to the Global Brand Forum, it’ll be held this coming 6th August till 7th August in Singapore, at the Ritz Carlton, Millenia. It is going to burn a whole in my pocket making the trip down, but what I shall witness and hear will last me for a lifetime. ^_^ Yes I’m excited!!!!!!!!! The list of speakers are as such AL GORE The former US Vice President, Politician, Teacher, Businessman, Author, Environmentalist and Oscar Winner JOHN QUELCH Senior Dean of Harvard Business School and Author of several book including ‘New Global Brands’ KEVIN ROBERTS Global CEO, Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising and author of several books including ‘Lovemarks’ NIGEL PARSONS Managing Director of Al Jazeera, the world’s fatest growing Television network TAPIO HEDMAN Senior vice President, Nokia Multimedia MARTIN ROLL Brand Strategist and author of ‘Asian Brand Strategy’ Looks like this is going to be one heck of a party! I can’t wait! In the mean time, can anyone pleaseeee advice me where would be best to stay other than Ritz as I will probably not have any money to eat or sustain me by the time I get back lol. I really wish I could stay back at Fernloft the backpacking place but, my friend David isn’t there anymore. =(

Ok to be very honest, when I first signed up for the blogathon, I was very very keen. But then I found out that I can be bit of a lazy pig and not want to do it. So thanks to a fellow blogger, he’ll be monitoring my site. I’m going to try and give it a shot and see how many posts I can go.
I am currently blogging for  Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres). People may not see it all the time, but there even though World War 2 has ended there are still other wars/ conflicts that are going about. And people are still dying because of these cultural, political conflicts or form natural disasters.

This body (MSF) aims is to deliver emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. Based on its field experience, MSF is addressing obstacles preventing people in the developing world from obtaining affordable, effective treatments for diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Through its Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines, MSF is advocating to lower drug prices, stimulate research and development of new treatments, and overcome trade and other barriers to accessing treatments.. To maintain its operational independence and flexibility, MSF relies on the general public for nearly 80 percent of its operating funds. The remaining 20 percent of funds come from international agencies and governments. The organization counted more than 3.1 million individuals, foundations, corporations, and nonprofit organizations among its donors worldwide in 2004. In 2004, MSF’s worldwide income was $568 million. In the United States, nearly 380,000 private donors contributed more than $91 million to MSF-USA. Not to make a comparison or a direct relation, but if some of you have seen the movie with Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen in it called Beyond Borders. It was what the character Clive was playing was trying to do. The movie had resembled part of what the actress does in her own humanitarian lifestyle, which began after her trip to Cambodia to shoot Lara Croft. From there after Croft that Angelina Jolie started her journey in becoming more intense with UNHCR.
Hehehe it has become our latest hang out spot in the office, but it is a nice area for ‘the time’ hehe.

I honestly think it is so incredibly adorable, that people are still fascinated with Transformers models, even if they are just toys. But people are willing to spend their money on these collectibles which can go up to the thousands. Even men who are ..ahem.. well in their late 20s to early 30s are still very into the toys. Check out what the boys were looking at in the office during a short free time at the round table.

And then I took out my Wired magazine (Did i mention I love Wired Magazine!) and showed the fantastic Optimus Prime in full glory…

And then I showed the crazy Transformer gun, Megatron in his silver glory… Which I still find rather funny how that humongous lugging thing of a machine can turn into not a shotgun, or an mZ16 or a big machine gun… no he turns into a tiny hand gun.. LOL. I think this is the one you can shoot with.
