Abbey’s got a new home

Dogs 23 December 2007 | Comments

Giden’s family got their dog :) and I’m so excited for them. Seems that one of their good friends has always had a soft spot for Giden’s youngest brother, Reuben. So he gave them a dog that he wanted to keep himself – a Black Retriever. A one month and a half year old female pup. She is absolutely beautiful and soooo cute, not to mention incredibly well mannered and friendly.

We named her after the dog who played Sam in “I am Legend” Abbey and i think it suits her just fine :) She’s a pure retriever although she’s got a bit of a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever. She’s got blue eyes! And i insist that is only while she’s a pup. I think she’ll grow out of her blue eyes next time when i take a pic of her with flash. She’ such a cutesy! After meeting her for the first time, we went to get soem stuff for her. Dog food, dog treats, dog collar, dog leash and most importantly dog shampoo with anti-flea repellent.

We took her home and we left her in the garden to play. Ooooh she just loved playing there. She was all hippity hoppity on the grass and was biting just about every human planted plant there. Hahaa. It’s mine… gimme it!

Well after all that playing we had to give her a bath. She was such a good girl, she didn’t move or struggle much at all! Unlike… ahem my poochie Duchess back at home.

It was quite funny, three people to bath a tiny pup. I’m the one washing her face. To my left is Giden’s brother Mervin and his gf Amy.

After the bath, we dried her up with the hair dryer and let her rest for a bit before taking her for vaccination at the vet. Oh she played heartily and jumped and about again. Just look at her chill out.

Sad to say though, later on she was just so tired. This is how she sleeps :P

She kept sleeping during the drive to the vet. The vet told us she could be having a fever or a flu that was still dormant. On top of that she had something like nappy rash but for puppies. Bacteria pimples from what he called it, common in most pups but after a week of medication she’ll be alright. However because of the unknown fever or flu, we couldn’t give her vaccination till her immune system was up. So back to the vet in a week’s time, she’ll go.

By that time, me and Gid won’t be there to see her grow up :( Hope they take lots of pics as she grows up. I won’t be able to see my little Abbey as a pup anymore then.. awwww
