Resident Evil 3: Extinction

Well i went ahead to watch Resident Evil the other day. But always before watching me movie, I need to consult the database…IMDB. Hehe. Ratings weren’t too bad, with people giving it a 7 star out of 10. Having said that though. I will say that the movie was not as fantastic as it’s all crazed about. It’s nearly the same if any of you who has watched Doom the one with The Rock acting as a villain- a cgi villain again! But it’s better, without the lame first person gun, pointing at zombies.

Breakdown:
Here we have Alice who is now on the run, while Dr Isaacs is playing God with Alice’s blood to make an army of clones so that they can remake another Alice with all her crazy abilities. A convoy trying to find a safe place, is headed by Claire and Carlos in the desert. While looking for fuel, Alice and the convoy bump into one another and she tells them there is a possibility of a safe area that has not been affected by the T-virus, which has now nearly killed off the whole of mankind and every tree with it. Carlos and Alice pair up again and as the journey through they find that need to get themselves into the base where Isaacs is.l By the way, Alice suddenly seems to have a nut amount of telepathic abilities which the audience has no idea where they came from, and while she does use them. She doesn’t always use them at the points when it is most necessary.

Milla Jovovich is positively one of the coolest and iciest actresses out in the industry. Which is fantastic considering she came out first from modelling and then into an acting career. As much as she is the best person for characters like these – the independent kick ass woman – I think she’s getting stereotyped to them. Take “The Fifth Element“, Ultraviolet and the Resident Evil Series.

It was also nice to see some other strong female characters such as the girl from Heroes, Ali Larter, who has also acted in other films such as Legally Blonde and Varsity Blues, which is where I first saw her.

And a cute lil “k-mart”, acted out by Spencer Locke. Hahaha what a name. Ashanti well…. she made an appearance and heh, like the rest of the other movies the characters all seem to burn out just as soon as you get to know them or start liking them. Kinda annoying, while the only one left standing is Alice. Like just when I was liking the fact that Oded Fehrer who played Carlos. They just had to endd it so swiftly I mean come on!!! I really enjoyed his performance in The Mummy and was always hoping to see him in other films.

The film is considered to be one of the better ones out of the three and I partially agree with that. The storyline was fairly average, as you could already pinpoint what could happen or not in the film. PLus if you noticed, certain scenes have been borrowed from other films such as The Birds by famous Alfred Hitchcock and some other scenes like that of The Undead, which was kinda cool.  The Birds always gave me scary thoughts after that with those flying creatures.

Also, not everyone would appreciate it as much if they saw it as a stand alone and not with the other two prior to that. Effects and all were fair, what can you not expect with Hollywood these days and the zombies eating out or even biting the humans was dayyummmnn disgusting. In the end it is still a movie that is base on a game. And i suppose its not always easy to live up to it. The ending was once again with an indirect ‘to be continued’ so expect a Resident Evil 4 peeps, which looks rather interesting to see what the director can come up with this time as the Army of Alice unfolds.

I give the movie a 6.5 and it was only worth my time, because of Milla. She was super HOT AND COOL!

And this is sick! You get to have their costumes man!!
