A Long Wait at J.Co Donuts

Food 29 November 2007 | Comments

Yesterday i had gone out during lunch hour to find a sword for this coming Saturday’s performance. Needless to say, I went to the Pavillion, which by the way is only good for posh clothing-cum-cosmetics- shopping, that is overly priced. The stupid huge place didn’t even have a toy store! And when they did it was only a smallllllll teensy weennsy Toys R Us…!!!????

A huge store like that and the Toys R Us is hidden within Parkson. Hello you are huge shopping mall and I don’t care if you have Jaguars to showcase on your window pane! You must have a toy store. A proper one! How are kids going to entertain themselves..

Seriously!

Anyway back to J.Co Donuts. Me and Arin had gone there, for the one sole purpose (for him anyways) to get his donuts. I knew they were a hot thing in town, but this was ridiculous. Here’s what it looks like…

You see that line? It’s sooo long..

Btw they do have free wi fi there… nothing new. I was giving Arin the camera to take pics…

and when i got into the line… it got even longer… by a few more people! It was like a long “S” shaped line… so there were about three rows before even touching the counter.

You would think that I am so close to the donuts that means I’m near the counter…

I’m not! I’m still far away from the counter.

We were soooo close… and I was just staring at the donuts… Some were glazy, some were shiny with chocolate on top and another with pink glossiness so bright. This was not right! I was looking at them for so long (it was about 45 mins at this point in the line), to the point I got jelak! Jelak meaning i wanted to throw up because I was already full from looking at the darn donuts.

While waiting, I managed to take snaps of their interior. Pretty neat, i like the upside down cups they stuck on their wall.

and some of their customers… who went nuts with the buying of donuts.Look at the number of boxes here.

When we finally got them, I insisted on taking a picture in the car. I had to take a good pic with all the fuss on these donuts!

Here we have glazy (The original donuts which is covered with a layer of caramel sugar – i think !?), followed from the top row Almonds, Oreology, Chocolate, Tiramisu and Just Peanut.

My conclusion.. I don’t know what the hype on these donuts are, accept that it is a new building with a new coffee sitting place. The ambiance is nice, cozy homey but as for the donuts..? They are a slightly different texture as compared with the then dominating donut house, Dunkin Donuts. So alright it’s something different. But in the end… it’s just a donut!

The one I have yet to try is Krispy Kreme Doughuts (and yes the correct way of spelling Doughnuts.. at least how i have been taught anyway), the one that Giden kept telling me about when he was in Sydney. Sheeeesh don’t tell me.. buy me one! I heard that if you want to open up a franchise anywhere you need at least half a million to start off. I have not heard of it being in any Asian countries so far. I think they are trying to keep it that way.. I could be wrong.

But there’s my DOUGHNUT day.
