This was just a few days ago. A very close friend of my boyfriend’s brother had passed away due to the recklessness of a bus driver. My heart and prayers goes out to this young girl, her family and dear friends who are now mourning for her. This post is dedicated to all of them and to Nian Ning along with this song by Guy Sebastian “My Beautiful Friend”.

leenianning.jpg

Her name is Lee Nian Ning (this was her life story), a 21 year old who had so much ahead of her in life. She had just come back from University of New South Wales in Australia to visit family and friends. She was on a bus, Konsortium, from Penang heading down to KL, when the tragedy hit. This is quoted from the papers today. You can read the full article here.
“Nian Ning, 21, a Public Service Department (PSD) scholar at the University of New South Wales in Australia who was on her way to visit friends in Kuala Lumpur, was among three passengers who perished when the driver lost control of the bus and slammed into a divider. “We learnt that the driver had 13 summonses against him. Why had the company not screened him and realised that he was not competent to drive that bus?”
I am appalled, extremely appalled at this. Time and time again there have been so many bus crashes in the past year, how can the authorities out there not do anything about this!! And the police and whatever other authorities are saying that want to put a stop to crimes and what not. What kind of service is this? This is from the blog Not so Little Girl In A Reverie
“According to the survivors, the top deck was swaying left and right as the driver was going really fast. Some passengers at the bottom deck saw the driver smsing a lot and driving really fast in the heavy rain. After awhile the passengers felt something amiss and saw the bus driver STAND UP suddenly(while the bus was moving!) and split seconds later, the passengers screamed really loudly and the bus spun three times, hit the divider and careened to the opposite highway where an oncoming MPV crashed into the back of the bus. Nian Ning and Mohd Zailani were sitting at the back row. I’m not sure about the other chinese boy who also passed away…..To add insult to the injury, the bus driver only sustained a broken right leg. “
How can you even hire somebody who has 13 summons? Doesn’t that even strike to the company at all that he is not qualified to drive? Is this the kind of people that our country is producing? Is this the kind of service that we are expected to receive as citizens that put our trust into the hands of these people? The authorities are suppose to be keeping us safe, cause that is their job. But how can we feel safe when we are putting our lives into the hands of those who are reckless and worse still no one to even filter those who are reckless. It is irresponsible and terrible. How can the rest of us even think about traveling anywhere via public transport when there is the high possibility of an accident? How many people have to lose their lives until this can be resolved? How many more crashes must prove to those in charge that need to do something drastically fast? Talk is cheap and easy. Don’t just put in the papers that you are doing something about it. REALLY do something about this. Dear all, as of here, I refuse to ride a bus from that company Konsortium. It used to be one of the most recommended bus to travel on and after all that has happened, I highly doubt it is worth my life or anyone’s life to ride on these buses. In fact I am going to boycott every single bus that is frequently driving to and fro between the states. It is up to you guys if you want to, but i urge you not to take buses anymore. But it is time, that a stand is made to say that these bus crashes have to STOP! Hope you all agree with me to fight for justice against the bus companies. Please post this on your blog now to help: Chung Lern and Nian Ning’s families would like all families and friends of the victims, dead or alive, in the Slim River Bus Crash to come forward and join them in taking action against the bus company. Stand up to seek justice for these three innocent individuals, who were all so young and full of life. If you have a blog, please call out to ANYONE who knows someone who survived or did not survive the crash to come forward to join the Lee family. Make a huge difference, make a huge fuss. For now, you may contact Lee Chung Lern at chunglern@gmail.com or preferably on his handphone at 012-6670368. Here are fellow bloggers who are also helping Nian Ning’s family seeking for justice.

There is also a facebook group has also been made in honour of her memory. In Loving Memory of Lee Nian Neng(1987-2008).
I am all for socialising on a face to face level. I am also all for socialising be it on a virtual level. Meaning I am not directly interacting with the person face to face but via some online or some sort of techie  medium. Be it facebook-ing, sms-ing, msn messeng-ing, email-ing, friendster-ing, linkedin-ing, blogg-ing, vlogging and so on so forth. **Wow that is a lot if “ing”s!! Can there be more??** I’m all for that. But i do find it terribly funny, how sometimes we are either just too lazy to open our mouths, get up from our chairs, move away from our computers and actually communicate with our naturally born with voice box. Why i say this? Just today in the office, my colleague was sitting behind me. Emphasis on the word JUST BEHIND me. Meaning she can hit me, whack me, tickle me, nudge me and poke me all within an arms length. I am that closely seated to her. But what did she choose to do?

msnchatfar.jpg Yeah… exactly….MSN! Harloooo!!! Hahaha I’m right here!! I couldn’t help laughing… on MSN..and neither could she. This is how close we are.

It’s so interesting. How while communication has gone beyond less than difficult with the another person with the latest technology, and yet we are separated by it in a way. This is how my sister calls me down for dinner (recall the Blarf?) Scenario: Dinner time. This is all on MSN. She is downstairs on the computer Sis: Dinner is ready. Come down to eat!  I am upstairs on the computer Me: Ok coming.. What’s for dinner first… ***type type type** Sis: Umm.. fish…rice… veggie…? **type type type** Me: Hmmmm ok… Down in 5 minutes.. Well that never happened.. took me another 10 -15 minutes before I went down. But you see what I mean. We are brought closer and yet separated by technology. As for my friend.. I was just a turn around from the chair for her to ask me something.. and she chose msn..Wonder if this is a good thing or  a bad thing. Hahahahahha
Money is the root of all evil. Or so I heard. And for the most of it, I think it’s true! Why do I say that? What makes a man fight for his life to survive? What drives a man to want to bother getting up everyday? What is the biggest cause for fights may they be economical, political or social situations? What makes a person tick for the rest of their entire life? What causes the whole world to be in utter chaos, when shares go tumbling down?

burnmoney.jpg

Money should just be burnt, so that we won’t be troubled by it. :S I am a bit tired, how all people are ever trying to do in their life is for the sake of money. Granted I shall admit that I have been born with a bronze spoon in my mouth. But what have you been trained in school to do ultimately? The nice version of this is by saying “Oh it’s so you can become a useful person to society”. What they actually mean is “To teach how you to one day become a person that can make money.. doesn’t matter how, you’re just suppose to make money so you can carry on living.” Everything is for the sake of making money and why so? Because without money, you can’t darn well survive. Take for example how we blog. When was the last time we blog for the sole purpose that is the freedom of speech. That it is the place where we aren’t easily touched and we the individual can have a sport where we can express thoughts in an open manner. When was the last time, bloggers stood by with one another for the sake of doing some sort of good out there? Yeah ok there is the whole BloggersUnite thing. That’s great…. But of late all I have been seeing are blogs that are just trying to leverage to make sure that they have enough traffic so that the likelihood of ads being click is higher. Asking some of you out there, who are staying in the same country as me…how many times have you asked our Nuffnang, Advertlets, GrabmyAds and whatever other advertising medium out there “Hey where are my ads? Can ya bring more in?”. If the ads come in, they come in. It is no secret the whole point why we all joined Ad Services is because we wanted to make some extra cash. I’m digressing on the fact, that people do stuff for the sake of money these days. The sucky reality is that you can’t do anything when you don’t have money. People I find sometimes are a slave to money, because it is either they do not have enough to sustain them or they always want more of it. Ooo money makes the world go round. Sigh everything is a business, you can’t run from it. Nothing is ever really for the sake of doing it because it can possibly be fun. I feel like such a prude saying all this. Next thing you know a few posts from now I’m going to sound hypocritical-if I end up talking about how to drive more traffic into a site or how one can earn more money with their blog or whatever. And why would I write something like that in contrast to this post? Because I have to sink to the thing people double my age love to call “Reality” and think of ways how to make a living so that I can sustain me sitting up right on a chair and not faint from lack of food… Me: Hey money! Money: Hey you! Did you know that you can see more of me if…. Me: Bite ME!

“It’s never too late to be what you could have been” – George Elliot

Please play this… it just sets the mood. :) I have a notebook that have this quote written on to it. When I got it, it was in the bookstore of the Monash campus and I did so because the quote hit a chord with me. As I think that it can hit something for anybody who has a hope or a dream. I have many aspirations and sometimes I find that can be a down fall because there is no focus. Which is why after last year, since I took my first step into a paying job, I have come to realise that I should really focus into what it is that I’m passionate or at least like, into a job that can hopefully pay well. Somewhere last week, I was helping my friend get the idea of the advertising industry. And I passed her this book called “Clueless in Advertising”. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is getting the urge to try out advertising as their first career.

cluelessinad.jpg

Anyway peaking out of the book was a bookmark I a while back and I had totally forgotten about it. The Bookmark had the same quote as the notebook. Interesting when I start to question about things in my life, like direction and what not, certain things will pop up to remind me why I am fighting for the goal I am aiming for.

believe1.jpg

What i aim for, would probably eat me whole and for all I know I may end up eating sand if it doesn’t pull through. Reality kicks in and then that is when you realise that not every dream can come true because you have to end up fighting to survive. Which is why I’m glad that God popped back this line to me. You can’t just give up with what it is you want to do. Work hard at it, Try all you can for it. I need some reflection time for this . I don’t want to end up thinking that when I grow older, the thing that I yearned for is not attainable because I didn’t try or because there were obstacles in the process. One only has one life to live. Why not live it to the fullest and make the most of it. Why slave away to labour that you aren’t happy about? You just need to believe that it isn’t too late for anything. That it is all up to oneself to really strive for something. I sound like an old person saying this. I’m really glad that there are people like Timothy, Joel and young people out there who are striving for something in life but doing what they enjoy. It is not everyday that one gets that. So I urge those who are still in college or whatever… find what you are passionate about, make that your job. Don’t wake up in the morning to realise that you don’t like what you are doing with your life. Like some of us who have encountered that after Uni. It’s something that maybe you wont’ see till you are in, you’ll have to experience it. But this is what I seem to see prevalent in young people this day. “It’s never too late to be what you might have been”

Check it out, my site managed to get a review on Bloggyaward. Pretty cool!! I was quite excited when i saw a new link on my wordpress dashboard… You can take a look at it here.

bloggyawardaronil.jpg

It is broken down into 5 parts each with a point scheme of 10 points each.
  • Visual Aesthetics – 8
  • User Friendliness – 8
  • Reading Enjoyment – 8
  • Useful Info – 9
  • Overall Experience – 8
Well ok the ratings are not too bad but I will agree that it needs some work so that the site more user friendly. I really want to make the blog to be really easy and a pleasing experience for a visitor. I can’t entertain every single reader out there, but I will say that possibly some posts are not relateble because it doesn’t tally with the culture or maybe even certain events, places and so on so forth of others overseas. But I will try to make it more reader friendly for all visitors from here on. I’m glad that they found certain post to be useful, which is what I really hope for too. Sharing information or experiences is such a joy, you never know who may find it handy in the end :) So guys out there… since the look of Aronil will change later on, do you have any other suggestions as to how you would prefer to see a website? Not necessarily mine… but any website. Would appreciate the thoughts :)
