From the monthly archives: November 2008
The past month or so, I’ve been keeping tab on my health and my fitness regime. It’s a hard thing to keep yourself healthy, workout, eat right and then work during the day (with a job or without a job included). Ever since I started mocap regularly and met my friend Zawen, he’s been feeding my daily dosages of fitness input which I can also discuss and enquire about. So much fun! I’m not being sarcastic. Among them, he’s been pretty much helping me to plan what my workout schedule should be like. As well as giving me the heads up on which fitness “necessity” and ”accessory” to buy.  Currently i’m doing cardio at least 4 times a week now. Ranging from a 20 minute session if i don’t have time to a 50 minute session when I do. Ultimately I would love to be doing my cardio in the morning which is to be very frank the best time cause that is when the body is raring to burn calories for the previous days food storage. To keep the burn continuous throughout best to do the cardio in the morning. But that’s not meant to be for now. As an alternative it’s in the evening, after everything else during the day. Then there is of course the weight session.  I’ve started back on weights again properly. But before that I want to go into introducing my gym companions which are a must haves. They are.. ***drum roll…..kadush***

Gym Companion #1 – Syntha 6

monicabrantsyntha6

I actually bought Syntha 6 just last year in September as you can read here: My Syntha-6 and Gakic, but I stopped taking it for nearly a year. I’m back on it now and taking it consistently i didn’t think it would finish so fast. I consume the protein shake usually in the morning and then another one after workout. You can say it’s like part of my breakfast. I mix the protein powder which 1/3 along with organic soy milk with a hint of vanilla, water pop in 3 ice cubes… shakey shakey and there ya go. Instant chocolate protein drink. It’s pretty yummy too, after you get used to the whey protein taste. I need my protein to replenish the muscles I’ve torn in the process of either cardio or weights. More so if I did weight resistance for the day. By the way the model with the product is Monica Brant. She is probably one of the best in the fitness industry and is a role model to a number of people internationally. She is one soure of inspiration here :)

Gym Companion #2 – Lipo 6

lipo6

Then we come to the thing that is suppose to help with burning the stubborn fat. I was using Hydroxycut before, then I decided to give Lipo 6  a try. I’ve seen it many times in my favourite fit magazine Oxygen Mag and Muscle & Fitness: Hers. I never used them cause well it cost pretty high, however one has to invest in oneself somewhere right? Using Hydroxycut with consistent exercise and watching the diet – I can’t say I’ve seen immediate results but I will say that I can see small differences, especially in the arms and legs while working out. Plus these capsules are suppose to pack more energy which i do feel. I feel like I can cardio / run longer. Appettite seems to wan a bit too after eating it. Lets see what happens.

Gym Companion #3 – Itouch = IFitness

ifit

My last gym companion has already been introduced actually here on Itouch’ ed Me. What I want to share is the program I bought from the Itunes store which was very cheap and is now my buddy when I do weight resistance. Why do I love it?  iFitness provides images of people performing over 110 exercises, and categorizes them by the body region that each exercise targets. Simply choose a target, tap on an exercise, and you are presented with a picture of someone performing the exercise.

ifitness

Tap on the pencil icon at the top right and jot down what you did for your workout that day. Create your own workout regimes on a daily or routine basis. Monitor everything with the logs.

ifitness2

It’s super helpful and if I don’t understand an exercise or I want to know which muscle part the exercise is hitting, just tap on the image of the person performing the exercise and you have a detailed explanation. Pretty handy right :) Including the music and video playback of course. There you have it. The 3 main companions.
Woooot woooottt.. WoooooooooooooootOooOTooOToOOOOOotttttt Let me just jump around like a mad person!  A few months back, I had applied for the ASTRO-Nida Dramatic Course that has been advertised on Astro as well as the papers. It’s back again for a second round. I tried applying for it last year but I didn’t manage to get in. At least I tried right. According to the email, I didn’t have enough qualifications to get into the course. Hence I wasn’t picked. I’m glad they did see my profile and gave me a reply to tell me I wasn’t chosen though. I hate being left in the dark.  THen came this year.. my gosh how fast a year just flies by. I heard it was on again, the ASTRO-NIDA course and obviously i applied yet again. This time at least i ad some ammo to say, yes i have been actively involved with productions and what not.  About two weeks back, I got an email from them, stating that I was shortlisted!

Woooohoooooooo. Phase one. I got my foot in the door, now I just needed to get another foot in.  Then about a week later. I got another email.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooottttttttttTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Yesh, by the sound of my woot I got in!! Yeah man Yeah! It’s nothing short of an achievement, but I really Praise God. That it’s all jsut been falling in to place. I honestly didn’t think I could get in, but hey don’t know if you don’t try and leave it to God to do His will. I’m extremely ecstatic!  I got another email then from the ASTRO person we are all to alias with. She mentioned who was going to be our teacher. An Australian actor by the name of Mr Nicholas Bishop, who is also a NIDA graduate and has been tutoring at NIDA in between shoots. Oh my gosh I’m sooo excited. Assisting him is Tahnee McGuire both are from NIDA. That’s the most I know about my teachers for next week hehe. I’ll have more updates soon.

Don’t think naughty for this.  Last two weeks, I mentioned about my new entertainemtn which I stole from my brother.. the  Sony PSP. Well after playing it for a while, i got bored. I finished the Lord of Rings Tactics during motion capture. Doing shoot is a tiring process cause you have to wait around a lot. So I figured I might get a new source of entertainment, that will benefit me during other times. I feel a bit guilty getting it but so far it’s been wonderful playing around with it. Say hello to my new iPod Touch the 2 generation.

ipodtouch

I’m still fooling around an getting used to this piece of work. Before I thought the whole Itouch was overrated. I still think it is -nyeh -:P but getting it has been quite fun. I will not shift over to an Apple Mac, cause I love my PC, although i did consider it once. Buying the Ipod Touch was just me breaking a way a tad bit and just venturing into the world of an Apple. It’s fun I can tell you.  So lets see what is so sexy about this gadget that got me hooked.   Cool Things I dig about the iTouch:
  1. There is a built in speaker now with the 2G iTouch.
  2. Touch screen (like duh!)
  3. Wi-Fi through Safari
  4. Music and Video Playback
  5. Push Email
  6. 16GB worth of space
  7. Volume control on the side
  8. Games to keep me entertained
  9. I’ve got like a few different versions of the Bible on it!
Things I Shake my Head to:
  1. The battery life is not something that’s much to be desired
  2. The volume of the inbuilt speakers aren’t that great
  3. Using it to surf the net means only 2 hours of battery life
  4. I’m probably going to go blind if i keep watching videos on it
It is now my favourite friend when I gym.. Although i think i should be concentrating more on the workouts rather than trying to get the song to put me in the mood. I found some great tracks for that. Not to mention it’s not that heavy. Plus while on any of the cardio machines, I can prop it up on the dashboard and just watch a movie while running, walking.., whatever. Sweet!
My stars for the Itouch…. I give it. 3.5 / 5.. honest man. I’d give it a huge 4.5 if only they would amp up the battery. But if anyone knows how i can do that… lemme know.
The words of the AstroMax ad tagline “I’ve got time” rings in my head everytime when I think about the word ‘time’. It is a scene of how this man is able to interact with everybody because apparently he has the time to watch a number of things on Astro (our local Pay per view satellite television network station). And the reason he has time to catch up on everything is because Astro Max allows you to download stuff so you can watch it later.  “I’ve Got Time!” Hah!!! What a load of hogwash. When one is busy you never have time. Even more so when suddenly there are a number of things happening all at one go, there is no such thing as enough time. Human nature, has an unfortunate sin called greed. Hence when greed takes over, all logic and rational goes out the window. Same goes with say jobs and opportunities. Just starting out trying to build a career, a young chiku would want everything. Meaning when someone offers you something, you want it. Then suddenly something else pops a long and you want that too.  Sigh….. yeah well you can’t have it all. There is however time management and there is also, where you have to make decisions. Choices on the things which you want but can’t have. No I don’t have all the time in the world. Making decisions is tough. It then boils down to priorities, when you can’t make up your mind. Which is more important to you. That would help in the decision making department.. So whoever said one has time.. or says the tagline “I’ve got time” was talking squawk… There’s seriously never enough time in a day.  I need to chill.
Every day, when i wake up, the first thing I do is check my email on my favourite email of all emails – GMAIL. When i click on the tab on my Google Chrome, something looked a bit off with my gmail login page. Usually I’ll see a simple white screen with a light blue line at the top with little updates on gmail, how much space i have left… stuff like that. And a nice light blue that will be the login section.  However this is what greated me. No more whitish background instead I have mountains.. lol

gmailbeta

Nice look for a change all though I did prefer the white background. Then when we go into our main page, we see the header and tabs, not much difference except that maybe now the colour reaches over to the sidebar.

gmail

Then we head on into settings and we see the new tab called themes. Which allows you to choose all sorts of designs for your background layout. Reminds me very much of the iGoogle application.

gmailthemes

Wheee all sorts of new stuff. Very sweet. I picked the Tea House as my new layout, since I’m in the whole asian phase.

Wala.. this is what my gmail looks like now. And woot, I like what I see. I love it when Google gives these surprises just to because they can.. hehe.
