The 54k Billboard Proposal

Love 25 February 2008 | Comments

Is it every girls dream to really want to have a beautiful wedding? Or in this sense an expensive wedding?

ok maybe lets not go to the wedding yet, lets just talk about the proposal.

This is an old piece of news, but finally i actually saw it with my own eyes, the crazy proposal made by this young man, David Tan to a girl named Kelly Tan E Li.

This is the old billboard behind the newly engaged couple. Read about it here.

The billboard was placed along the LDP highway, but what is different about it, now is if you look closesly. Someone is possibly sponsoring the boy who did this proposal.

Love Diamond has now placed themselves there hahaha for promotion. Now not only is he the Ad exec known for a billboard proposal, by the looks of it, he’s also now this Love Diamond spokersperson… not bad :P

Personally it is very sweet, but I don’t believe for a moment that he can afford to get 40k for that billboard proposal. Already the pain of 15k on the ring is enough damage to last a lifetime. Imagine this, a billboard which people pay thousands and close to millions for, to advertise their product, would not give up even a spot for others to put up other adverts, let alone a proposal! So i think the boy has got to be in kahoots with some big shot somewhere down town. Meaning he knows someone of the someone, or possibly his family owns that billboard.

It is sweet, but a waste of many if he really did put a penny into it.

  • Jenz Iggo: Lol yeah they can always retaliate with that line. But don't think it'll stop anyone from making either positive or snide comments :P

Yipguseng: I didn't realise it either, till my friend who was in the car with me pointed it out.

Suzette: My pleasure, you've got some interesting reads too. Yeah i thought because he's in an agency he may get some discount, but even still, i spoke with a friend and he said it's very unlikely any company would give up that ad slot. pheww
  • I wrote about this too, but without that diamond's line! No wonder... I'm sure even if Love Diamond didn't pay in full, it would be at least half of the billboard cost. Before this, we were guessing: since he is in ad industry, he might get certain good discount, so the 40k face value is not the actual paid. Now, with sponsors some more. LOL! He is either lucky or stupid. LOL!

BTW, thanks for dropping by my blog and left a comment! :)
  • damn, though i pass by LDP everyday but i totally din see that sponsor line thing :O
  • While the money spent can build an orphanage, these people can simply bark back:

    "My money, my life!"

like the banner that most of the souped-up kancil owners stick at the back.
  • dweam: hehehe yeah a bit over the top but would be so cool if they could haha. Yeap definitely going :) are you going too? or was that post just to win the mac or wii?
  • wah! sponsor entire wedding! everyone will want to get married. hee. but i think it has to beneficial to the diamond companies in the long run. like make sure all their kids buy a diamond when they're 21 or smth. haha!

will u be gg for the NN Pajama party? =)
  • ar: lol yeah it really is killing two bird with one stone. get the girl legally and get super famous in the end.

dweam: hey babes takes for popping over too! lol now that is umm.. mutually beneficial... that's really not a bad idea. though i tihnk they should open it to public haha. and maybe instead of the ring, have the diamond companies sponsor the entire wedding :P

3point8: I'm guessing he didn't invest in it much la. There's bound to be some kinda of tie,t hat will allow him to even get a space. :P But yeah still worth it. hehe
  • Man...this billboard investment is so worth it!
  • ooo that's very interesting! haha almost the same as our SG stars that's being sponsored by diamond jewelers for their wedding. in exchange they have to allow their weddings to be used as commercials -_-

and thanks for your lovely tag on my blog~! will definitely be dropping by your bloggie more regularly =)
