Childhood Days

Memories 30 August 2008 | Comments

Not too long ago I received an email from my blogging community friends, DGMB and he had shared with us an email that reminded us of what our childhood memories were like. We are all from different schools, different group of friends but one thing remained consistent that they were just certain things in life that was ‘of our time’. It brought back some of the great memories we had growing up. I’ll just share some of the fond objects that made up my childhood.

Lets start from the days of standard one. I remember when there were all these ridiculous looking fruit rubbers which were so cute to have but were entirely useless in terms of usability. I mean they were really adorable but they couldn’t rub your pencil markings off at all. In fact they just

Then there was the other type of rubbers which i shall just name as the- flags-of- the-world rubbers. These weren’t too bad to use and what was fun was how as kids we made use of them to play the rubber sparring game. Where you tip over one end of the rubber watch it tumble and see if it can land on another opponents rubber. That was fun hahah to play that in the middle of breaks or when there wasn’t a teacher around. I remember the boys in my class would cut up their rubbers and make them into little tiny particles…. till this day i still have no idea why they did it.

At home, some of us had this little toy calledĀ  Western Bar. Hahaha i remember i had this and you were suppose to kill of the bandit that walked into the bar. I never really won… so sad.

In those days, there were all sorts of candy. The one at the bottom wasn’t my favourite but they had a interesting ads. lol I remember when i would watch TV, their ads would pop up in between shows and they’ll trying coaxing you to buy the sweets, because there was a toy inside the candy box. Surprise!!

Ahh the Old Maid, Donkey and Happy Family. Card games of the old days… I don’t really rememberĀ  how to play them, and I don’t think I’ve seen them in stores anymore. But i could be mistaken. Old Maid i think had to with something like where you keep shifting cards with your friends and whoever got the old maid last in their hand lost… Ok i won’t try remembering what donkey and happy family were like cause I’ll probably mess up the rules of the game. lol

It was a nice trip back down memory lane. :)
