My Hollywood Makeover

Since the Oscars, I decided to go and get myself a new hairdo. I went online to check up on who were the top hairstylist around. I went straight to our version of Beverly Heights (btw this is a housing area not, but i have to make it sound interesting la). And i found Sally Hershberg to do my hair. She’s done hairs like Meg Ryan.. . .   You know what it takes too much effort to make up a lie.. :S  I’m on the news mailing list for Instyle.com and right after the Oscars, they sent me an email saying I can try some red carpet hair and get a makeover. Now here’s the thing. When you do these virtual makeovers, the picture you upload needs your face to be in a specific position and your hair has to be tied up. Usually when you try to take a shot of yourself.. in will not look as appealing as the model shots that are already available. So I’m going to say that i cheated a little. I borrowed one of the models closest to my face size and hairline and used my face on her. A lot better ok!!! At least now when i try hairstyles its in proportion.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many hairstyles on me in a span of 4 hours… yeah that’s how long it took to put them all together. And I’m so keeping these pictures. Would be so much easier now when i go to the hairstylist and say I want this one! Cause I know i’ll look reasonably good in it. Out of all the hairstyles.. and I mean alllllllll. I liked the ones of me with the wavy hair.

What is The World Coming To?

I have to express my thoughts on this. Just recently on Monday I read in our local papers that a clerk mom had found her one year old baby daughter to be bleeding at the butt. The worried mom and dad immediately took the baby to the doctor to get her checked. The baby was admitted in for three days and the doctor told the parents that the child had some penetration at the private parts. In terrible words and news the baby was sodomised. The mother believes that it is one of the sons of the babysitter she left her child with while she went to work.

  WHAT KIND OF SICKO IS THIS??? It’s a baby a one year old baby. How sick is this? I can’t even begin to think or comprehend why such perverts exist.  You can read the entire article here and this is the follow up, click here to read.  Then following that story. I saw this in the UK’s newspaper TheSun. A 13 year old boy, Alfie is now the delighted father of a bouncing baby girl. On one hand you can jump for joy at the birth of another being, on another thought, the father is just 13 years older than his daughter!!!! And the mom is only 15 years old. According to the news, Alfie doesn’t even know how much diapers cost. Sure he can say that he can take care of the baby and all.. but at his age, what can a 13 year old know about the responsibility of raising a child?

Even full grown man are having issues of finding the right woman to marry. Coming to terms with getting their career down pack and whats worse they can’t even begin to imagine the thought of having a kid.  ““I didn’t know what it would be like to be a dad. I will be good, though, and care for it.” – Alfie. Just watch the interview with the kid. He calls the baby girl.. it. It!! Children are having children. Maybe I won’t fault the UK for having their sex education but I would fault the environment the child is in. I’d fault the parents who maybe weren’t around for both the 13 year old boy and the 15 year old girl. Education given is just a secondary place where they learn more things. But ultimately the first people who teaches a kid stuff are the parents. You can read the article here. I watched this video of a guy giving his opinion on the matter. It’s tastefully funny in way.  What is the world coming to, i digress. **I’m placing my head in my hands** I don’t understand this at all.

Puteri Gunung Ledang

Puteri Gunung Ledang Season 3 just had it’s last show day. This was my first time seeing the musical and it was also the first time that I got picked to be in but.. had to let it go. Min Li, Abby and I went as a group to watch the show.

After watching it, I’m trying my best not to have the regret of not beeing in the show. Because I have to say it was fantastic and extremely grand. The cast was equally just as spectacular. I went to watch the show cause four people i knew were in it. And boy was I so proud of the three girls that were in Ismail with me!! Safia, Tisha and Kerry Ann. You all look gorgeous on stage and Tisha your Malay kampung girl mannerism was so cute! Safia you worked so hard for it and I’m glad to see you there. Kerry Ann you’ve always been a beautiful dancer.  The cast consisted of Tiara Jacquelina who reprises her role as the Puteri. Lovely and gracefully, she slinks in to character with ease. West-end player Stephen Rahman-Hughes as the dashing Hang Tuah. That man has a wonderful voice with turbo boosters just to pump out more air and volume when he sings.There is one scene where he belts out a long note for at least 20 seconds without losing his breath! Ida Mariana was fantastic as, i have no idea how she got voice to that creepy and haunting chants but she’s my favourite female singer there. 

To me Puteri Gunung Ledang had a very Disney theme to it. It almost felt like it was a combination with Mulan and Pocahuntas. Everything was either yellow, red or had the bluish hue that you see a lot in Pocahuntas. Think Disney on ice.

That’s a compliment okay! I’m not saying that the performances weren’t great but man, the performances were seriously helped a lot just by the mere sets the stage had. The moving mountains alone was enough to go whoa.

I felt this set was absolutely gorgeous. The movable mountains turned into the edge of a cliff, with ‘water’ flowing in the middle. It’s just a white cloth with blue light and some gabo effect and ta da you have shimmering water.

The biggest whoa for me had to be when they brought in the ship! Although i was a bit peeved that the ship only lasted for a short while just before they went to intermission. How can you not go whoa!

The show enveloped itself on the romance happening between the Puteri and the Hang Tuah. The ending is just heart wrenching if you think about it. It’s the two lovers who can’t be together story… but you just wish that they are in the end. Puteri is cursed to forever be alone on Mount Ledang and whoever that sees her before the dawn will die. Likewise Hang Tuah who suddenly disappears to be with him can never see her… tragic love. But it stays with you. For a happier ending we can imagine that Hang Tuah and Puteri are together forever up on the mountain with their love to hold them close.

.. You know as much as I can say I wasted an opportunity. But at the same time I have to accept that I made a choice and I did do stuff. It’s not to say that I couldn’t have done PGL as well. Just that probably I would’ve killed myself from too many things. Like I said in my previous post here – December was just mad and I had to make some sacrifices. If ever PGL comes to town again, i will definitely try out for it again. :) It’s a gorgeous show, just too bad that Tiara Jacquelina will not be playing the Puteri next time round. I imagine it will be quite difficult to find a replacement for her.

FHM Girls Next Door 2009

FHM Girls Next Door Party was on last Friday. I want to be very honest that I didn’t follow the contest and the only reason I did is because a friend of mine Davina Goh is part of the 12 finalist for this years contest. The contest was held at the Sunshine club on Asian Heritage Row.

I spent 20 stupid bucks for the magazine just to get the ticket only to find out that one of my friends actually get these for free….. sweat.

We were all trying to figure out why the word “useful” was part of the tagline. Maybe the magazine can be useful. 

So here we are. Another outing with my partners in crime Min Li, Nick Dorian, Brenda and of course Mister G. I didn’t expect much of the event accept the usual get in to a club. Listen to loud music, see a room filled with testosterone males all itching to see ladies on the stage… Wow really interesting for me.  Rudy from Hitz and Sarah Lian were the host for the night. They’ve got good chemistry. This is probably the first time I’m seeing Sarah host something live. As for Rudy he’s just one happening fella. I think this is the third time I’ve seen him host an event and he is super funny man!

This shot was a candid shot… literally and i was nearly blinded by Nic’s flash..which in the end gave out for the night.

We were bored till things started to get a bit more interesting. As supporters of our friend we were screaming our heads off everytime she was mentioned. The winner was Jazmine Lim and can you even make out the medicine student in her? Pretty with brains nice! Min also went up for one challenge and she got a really huge mug as a gift! Which i had to take a picture of. No real drink in there people. Just a huge mug. Haha

There was no food obviously. So we had to go for mamak after that. And sigh there goes a cardio session.

Reason we are posing like that is because Nic saw an advert with him in it and he was all happy about it. He was so proud about seeing himself at a mamak that he kept on talking abotu it :P So this is me and Min making fun and going “OoooooooooommmmGgggggggg… Is that Nick Dorian!!!!” **Swwooooooonnn** hahaha. Overall the event was fun :) I enjoyed it mainly cause good company was there. That’s the thing that makes any party fun.

Hammock Me Butt

I just realised that I have a lot of blog catching up to do. There are tons of things i want to write about but I just keep procrastinating them. Either that or I forget.  Anyways just to keep up. Yesterday I went to Min Li’s house to chill with Nick Dorian. We were actually suppose to be taking pictures to do the Kame Hame Ha post for the Dragonball competition by Nuffnang. I did want to do it just to test myself at being creative again. But I could not bring myself to bother after i sat down on her couch. Wejust kept on talking about how BAD the Dragonball movie is. I will admit that have not seen the movie, but after watching the trailer (and btw the trailer is the thing that intrigues you to want to watch the film) I wanted to vomit!!!!!!! Really vomit. I already gave my opinions on the trying-so-hard-to-be-anime-destroyed-by-Hollywood-film here at this post. So instead we decedid to just chill and laze about. I never knew that she had two hammocks strung up on her balcony. Me and Nic decided to jump on them – not literally – and swing about.  Needless to say though, the hammocks were a bit loose. At least the one I was sitting on and this resulted in my butt not being very high from the ground.

 

See what I mean by my butt is a few cm off the floor. And NO it is not because I’m heavy! The hammock was loose!!!
