Belukar Soft Launch
This just in. Reason I’ve been in Sabah for the past week and a half now, is because at the end of March, I had been casted in an independent film entitled “Belukar”.All thanks to Daphne Iking, whom I met at the Astro Nida short courses last year.
Daph! I lurveeee you!
What is Belukar about? In short Belukar is about a con artist, Eva (Daphne Iking) who is about swindle 100 million ringgit of insurance money from a gangn member she had a working relationship with, TKO (Annuar Chew Kin Wah). While waiting from the bank and insurance company, Eva decides to take a break in Sabah, Labuan. There she meets Nick (Bront Palare) who is actually an insurance investigator sent to hunt down Eva. Their meeting turns sweet and soon they find themselves developing feelings for on another. All the while Eva is being watched by TKO and his gang members – Momok (Ray Redzuan), Gincu (Me!) and Gong (Xavier Fong), to ensure that she does her job. Will their opposing professions combined with the complications of external factors allow them to finally be together?
Watch the movie to find out! Hehehe
You can read more about it here on New Sabah Times
The movie is written and directed by Jason Chong. Who is not only an actor himself but also an ex-state taekwando champion. Hehe.. He’s a seriously talented writer and has an interesting way of taking his shots. I’m very fortunate to be under him and given the opportunity to be working on a script that has so much potential.
Anyway moving on..
I had arrived in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on the 8th of March Sunday, to be informed that we were to attend a soft launch of the movie. Upon arrival at the Waikiki Apartment, I took a quick snapshot of the scenery outside.

The soft launch was later on in the evening, so we all got sometime to settle down and rest for a bit. It was also my first time meeting the rest of the cast. I was a bit nervous at first, cause i would have to chemistry with the rest of my ‘gang members’.But in the end we all became one big happy family… hehe.
The soft launch was just in front of the Waikiki Apartment.
Me with the ever so funny chatty man who can cook, Mr Bront Palare who plays Nick the insurance investigator.
The hot mama, who plays Eva – Daphne Iking and Nick
The dinner served at Tanjung Aru. The french loaf with the salami and cheese topping were so addictive. Looking at it now makes me hungry…*grumble*
This cupcake here was a sin to eat. I tried to resist it, but after people making yummy faces from taking a bite out of it.. I just couldn’t resist. An example of the yummy face, below.
