Arrrrrr….avast ye matey! All ye pirate lovers out there, for those who believe in the power of the monkey then ye be glad to hear that Monkey Island is back!

Rememer the nimrod Guybrush Threepwood and his lady love the Governor Elaine Marley? Not to mention the terriba-ba-ble Pirate LeChuck.

Now i’ve only played bits and pieces of Escape from Monkey Island. But this game is sure lots of fun. The game is by the same man who created Star Wars and its probably as old as that film lol. A game with wit and humour what more can i ask for. I think the most memorable bits of Monkey Island had to be the insult sword fights and insult arm wrestling. lol.!

Anyway here is the scoop on Monkey Island. There is technically two new games out. One is the Monkey Island Special Edition which is sorta like a remake of the first game entitled Secret of Monkey Island. I’m not sure if they are going to remake part 2 of Monkey Island though….

The first two games were on DOS and since we are now in the period of Vista we can’t find that anymore let alone play it. But with the Monkey Island Special Edition you not only get to play the game which has been lost to us so long ago but for those hardcore fans you can view it in pixeled format. Pretty much like the image above. :)

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is an enhanced remake of The Secret of Monkey Island for the PC, Xbox Live Arcadeand iPhone/iPod touch developed internally by LucasArts and released on 15 July 2009. The remake was announced on the first day of the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo along with the episodic Tales of Monkey Island (I’ll talk more about this in another post!)

Just have a watch at what’s in store!

    I loved Monkey Island, from the original to the later ones. Guybrush Threepwood always reminded me of "The Man in Black" a little from Princess bride, and this game had a Pirates of the caribbean feel to it. Such a great set of games from Lucas Arts.

    but they were also doing it in a gentle way that wasn’t exploitative or gross. As a parent, I appreciate that these films are trying to preserve some of the disney acting auditions innocence of childhood. So, no matter how cheesy and how bad some of the acting may be, I will always have a soft spot for Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan and the rest of the West High gang. Go Wildcats!
