At long last, I finally got the phone I’ve been raving again and again bout. I blogged about it here and here. I tweeted about it. I researched about it. I was obsessed about it. And finally i decided to buy it.

Yes I got my new baby. The one and only Google Nexus One. ^_____________^ I had a good reason for ‘wasting’ my cash. Unfortunately my n97 of one year decided to hang a lot on me.It lagged to the point it wasn’t funny. So I drove myself to Low Yat for a big Sam mentioned that the place may have it.

To my absolute delight. They did have the phone which was stated not available in Malaysia. So yeah anyone who wants the phone they can just drop by to Low Yat and get it. Prices are like so.

I didn’t check anywhere else. I paid about RM2570 for mine, the actual price was RM2400 but i did an installment plan. You can just google search for the Nexus One at the Low Yat Forum. That is honestly the cheaper option if you don’t mind parting with that walloping amount of cash.

Now lets move to taking some snapshots hehe. This may get heavy :)

Second thought make a video. Too many pictures to put up. Straight to the point.

This is just phase one of my trying to convince people that android with the Nexus One is the way to go.

Congrats on getting your phone. Take a look around, you'll see a number of N1 users in KL soon enough. Some of us pretty fanatical about our phones :) http://forum.legendroid.com/ – a Malaysian Android forum set up not too long ago.And there're quite a few of us hanging out in Google Buzz as well. Hint: fire up Buzz on your Android browser and try looking at Nearby buzzes. Most of us are N1 users.

hey thanks for the comment :) Yeah i'm a converted android fan now hehe. Are you using the android too? I've been to the site you mentioned when i was having some network issues with the phone. Very helpful place and fixed the problem in no time. So proud of myself hehe. Seriously Buzz? not a huge fan but worth trying now.

Don't really know how to describe Buzz.

It's not as irritating as Facebook is (no stupid games).

It encourages discussion more than Twitter, which really is just used as a way to publish blurbs or to send a shoutout to your friends.

It's more flexible than Digg when used as a forum to discuss articles.

I definitely use it more than FB nowadays. And quite a few of my friends already have Gmail accounts so it's pretty easy to get a discussion going. And whatever privacy issues that early adopters faced have already been remedied, so don't worry about that.

I ordered my Nexus One as soon as it was launched. Was using an HTC Dream before that and decided it was high time for an upgrade. Love the phone, love the OS even more :)

ahhh okies, one can just opt not to play the games and kill off the requests part from friends who post stuff on it. Hahah oh yes a definite upgrade is indeed necessary. My only problem i have with it is the memory on the phone which is only 512MB. Which means installing more and more apps could be a prob. Not unless you void the warranty and just root the nexus one.

  • http://twitter.com/feicipet feicipet

Just spend a few weeks making sure the phone has no visible defects and root the thing already :D The stock ROM itself is pretty good but rooting it opens up a whole world of possibilities. That said, with each new version of Android, the reasons for rooting it seem to dwindle. Previously, we had to root it in order to have tethering. In Froyo, tethering is built in by default. How cool is that?!?!

  • http://www.aronil.com Aronil

lol so far no defects physically and and no problems on it. My only issue is that it may have lagged because i've installed more apps into it's shrinking phone memory. That said i'm a bit freaked to root it still haha. any good walk through u can recommend? Oh why is rooting the droids dwindling?

  • http://twitter.com/feicipet feicipet

It shouldn't lag just 'cos u installed more apps onto it. I think it's more because the Android OS you're running is a bit dated compared to the ones we're running. LDC has a pretty nice set of links on rooting: http://forum.legendroid.com/android-tutorials-h…..Just read through and follow.Sorry I took so long to reply, but I was on vacation in Singapore and wasn't really paying attention. Anyways, it's best that you mention or DM me on my feicipet Twitter account or something if you need help. I check Twitter a whole lot more often than anything else :)

ah?? my nexus is on an old os? how long has 2.2 froyo been out? thanks for the link, think i need to go update my os then hehe. do u have a good link for that too?sure will catch ya on twitter ^_^

Some recommended apps:1) CalWidget – the default calendar widget in Android sucks. Use this one instead to get maximum usage of your screen space.2) Twicca – Functionally, I think this twitter client is better than the official Twitter for Android client. Just that the official app looks prettier, that's all.3) Quick System Info – gives u an overview of ur Android phone, very useful n informative. Also acts as a quick way to shutdown an app that may be hung.4) GPS Status – useful to get coordinates of ur location n send it to friends.5) SMS Backup & Restore – does exactly what it says it does.6) Brut's version of Google Maps – this is a hacked version of Google Maps that allows turn-by-turn navigation to be used outside of US.Get Brut here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?…..The rest can be found in Market.

Regarding what you asked last night:Would rooting make the phone faster?Technically, rooting has no bearing on performance. It's not as if there's a speed limiter on your phone like cars do. But, more often than not, rooting *and* installing a 3rd party ROM may very well give you speed improvements. Why? Android is an open source project, with most of the improvements being dropped into the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) public source repos by Google developers themselves all the time. These code updates can contain performance improvements. If you're using official Android updates, you need to wait quite some time for the improvements to reach you as official release cycles take a long time (red tape). Some 3rd party ROMs such as CyanogenMod work much faster and integrate these improvements into their ROMs much earlier than official packagers do. That's why you tend to get better performance when you install a 3rd party ROM.is it the same process for rooting just like 2.1?Yes, it more or less should be the same:1) Unlock the bootloader2) Install a recovery image such as AmonRA3) Install a rooted ROM

This post appears to get a large ammount of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something useful or substantial to give info on is the most important thing.

I am curious to find out what blog system you happen to be using? I’m experiencing some minor security problems with my latest site and I’d like to find something more safe. Do you have any solutions?
