Not too long ago, my friend Li Sa had introduced to me yet another teenage drama series called Gossip Girl. Now here’s the thing, I had actually read the book a while back, and it had some appeal to me then…that is until I got bored of “reading”. I didn’t follow up cause I felt there was just too much drama in the book. But apparently that is just perfect for a tv series. So now I’m HOOKED to Gossip Girl. Look here for the official book site of Gossip Girl and the shows website.

Gossip Girl #1: A Novel (Gossip Girl Series)

****I know i’m late on this but I just started watching…
What’s it about? Gossip Girl, is a narrated story by a girl that is just known as Gossip Girl via her blog/website. It revolves around a bunch of spoilt bratty kids that have overly succesfull and too wealthy parents, and most of their time is either spent doing phrases “Like-oh-whatever” and “That-is-oh-so-passe”….I’m kidding but the first is true!

On the tv side of things The main characters are Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Jenny (Taylor Momsen), Nate(Chace Crawford), Dan(Penn Badgley) and Chuck (Ed Westwick). Including some other adults who acts as either the caring dotting dad, Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle) or the biatchy moms Lily VDW (Kelly Rutherford) and Eleanor Waldorf (Margaret Colin). And our lovely Gossip Girl is the voice of Kristen Bell? Anyway the Tv series starts off with S getting back to town (The east side of NY -which is from my understanding the posh and glamorous side of the city) from boarding school. Her entry to NY is all the buzz and Gossip Girl just got the scoop so everyone now knows that Serena is back. Needless to say, her ex-best friend Blair is not all that happy to see Serena. Why? Serena is really trying to behave like a good girl, which she hopes to be and more importantly why is she back? On top of that Blair is trying to really set the mood and deflower herself with her since forever boyfriend, Nate. Dan is also having a hard time swallowing the fact that love of his life, Serena still doesn’t know he exists. And Chuck?…..Well Chuck is pretty much loving the agony everyone is having while he struts around in his very expensive clothing and prances with all the money in his hands…. his dad’s money obviously. But while the teeno’s have issues of their own… Even the rich parents have their internal and external probs.. So the drama! So whats the deal?…. Do you really want me to tell? Spoiler up ahead: (highlight the words in white) Serena slept with Blair’s bf since childhood, Nate. And her brother Erik is in the Ostroff rehab center since he tried to commit suicide from depression. Rufus who is Dan and Jenny’ s dad used to date Serena’s mom Elai. Dan hates Chuck for trying to take advantage of his baby sister Jenny at a party Blair throws. So will S and B get back together as BFF’s? Will N finally get to get it on with B? Is D going to speak or have some sort of conversation with S?

GOSSIP GIRL Penn Badgley as Dan ...

GOSSIP GIRL Nan Zhang as Katy, Leighton Meester as Blair and Nicole Fiscella as Isabel.

Chuck, Nate and Dan

And the darling of the group, Serena. Even holding food she’s gorgeous… ughh… yes I’m jealous hahhaa.Yeah…. soo the drama… but I’m liking it. Think of the show as a younger version of Sex and the City….minus lots of sex, but we still get some action going on here and there. Casts of the show is fab! Everyone suits each character nicely. The boys are all cute and each with their own distinct personality. And I just adore Black who plays Serena, she is pretty and every bit of sunshine. Blair is acted out like the spoilt yet traumatised girl that she is, well done Leighton… and what a name! You know you love me, xoxo Commercial Girl
Before I begin my rant… I am HUGE fan of Grey’s Anatomy. So the fact that I don’t get to see it… I’m tormented! Now as I was saying. Grey’s Anatomy episode 9 entitled “Crash Into Me, Part I” left me in much agony two weeks back. Why? Because if you look very carefully there are the two words that I distinctly detest – “Part One”… Arrghhh which means that the ending was not resolved and I have to wait for the following week to see what happens next. Furthermore if you’d look even more closely at the end of the video clip there is a very obvious “TO BE CONTINUED”. But what really got me more upset was the fact that the next episode – ep 10 “Crash Into Me, Part II” was no where to be found. Why? Because if this

Some of you have heard… which i’m very sure you have. The writer’s strike is going on now in the USA. That said the demonstration of the writer’s protest has caused a number of shows to go into rerun mode. Hence even people like your talk shows, CSI, whatever they are all on hold. It seems they rejected the latest proposal that was given by the studios at the end of November. I was having a look at the best Grey’s Anatomy site ever: Grey’s Anatomy Insider (GAI), and it seems that “Crash into Me, Part II” will be aired this thursday…Thank GOD! But after that, episode 11 will only be aired next year. Now i have nothing against this in fact, as much as I’m being tormented by the waiting factor. However I think some people who commented on this post on GAI are a tad bit unfair. You can read the post here – Writers to Continue Strike; Episode 11 to Air Next Year. Some called the writer’s greedy, some just could not understand what’s the fuss with the riot… Example:

In all fairness, the writer’s DESERVE to get a higher pay, and just by the studios giving it to them, I don’t think it’ll just end there. Yes most of the time we see the actors working their butts off – and it’s considered hard work…. HELLO! Writing is not a cushy job either… I would like for some of you out there who said the writers are being greedy, to think about it. How easy is it to come up with a good script? If you don’t have a good script, there is no show, there is nothing the directors can work with, there is nothing the actors can act out. A script is pretty much how everything starts of in the first place. So the writers deserve a lot more credit. Take “Friends”, the script in itself is brilliant, but the actors brought the funny message and gave it more life. It’s a REAL TEAM effort. So please for some, don’t diss the riot. I know at the top it sounded like I was complaining, but really it is more to state that the writers deserver recognition and I think people may not see that. I mean, we dont even see the writers, half of the viewers are in love with the show – actors – not the writers. They are the people behind the scenes. So I don’t know. I can bet that the minute the show goes back on air.. people will forget all about the writers again. Besides now with new media, it’s obvious everyone wants to get out on the new business of putting up videos on the net, but then when people pay to download the videos the writers don’t get a share. Come on! Even recording artists, when they get an album sold they at least get a few cents worth. So why can’t the writers get a share too? It’s a whole copyright issue thing along with the rights to a creative idea or intellectual property. It’s a messy thing. You can say in away that the strike is to really let the people see the writers… although I think it’s going a very negative way in some aspects. But good thing that the actors are behind the writers on this move. So yeah I’m behind the writers on their strike too! Take look at some of the Grey’s Anatomy cast on the writers strike.
