See this is why I feel it is entirely important sometimes to build rep o with your clients or with anybody for that matter. Yesterday I had met with Timothy and Nicholas of Nuffnang. They are both really nice people and what I think impressed me more was how well they know the industry that they are in.
I originally used both Advertlets and Nuffnang. To be honest, I was testing the waters with both and I’ll be frank that it is not easy to get cash in to your account if you don’t drive enough traffic into your site. Having said that though, there are pros and cons from both side, which was the reason that made me keep both Blog Ad Services on my blog.
Here’s why. Advertlets I have to admit had a much better layout structure when it came to their site and I’m one for the prettiness of a layout. But I was thoroughly glad to hear that Nuffnang had changed their layout yesterday by Timothy. So after our meet, I decided to go give it a looksie…Thumbs up!!! Nice change dudes.
Secondly another reason why – when I was about to switch to Advertlets entirely – was because of their ad banner sizes. It fitted quite nicely with my blog layout the one that is usually just after a particular post. The only thing I couldn’t stand was the ad banners for a post was this huge square! But then again I guess that is how it has to go if you want to advertise.
Thirdly it depends o the brands they are supporting…for me anyway. Nuffnang I found had a brand which I am thoroughly in love with. NIKE!!!!!! So that really had a big vote on my end and that’s the reason why I hung on to Nuffnang.
Ok ok I know people mostly go to these blog advertisers for the cash, but once again unless you have some god traffic flowing in, don’t count so much on this means of getting easy cash. Cause it ain’t easy!! So for me putting these ad banners up now, while it can be a side income of some sort, it is more of supporting the blog community.
Furthermore, honestly I think the founders of this Blog advertising networks are brilliant! Why? Simply because locally here there is no one offering the service. And with such a service they are the only source that actually have a tie up with all the top blogs and most influential ones. It is like a sitting gold mine.
That said why should companies, individuals and governments think that bloggers are important? Bloggers are now becoming the voice of the society. What you want to hear that is good or bad, are coming from the bloggers. It is first and foremost a freedom of speech on the net. LITERALLY FREE! Which is also great for countries that have a very tight cap on their media.
Everyone would like to know two sides of a story, so having a different voice sometimes help in giving the public a more open discussion on a topic. Take how Al-Jazeera is now the other voice of the news, opposed to their counterparts like CNN and BBC. Even people like Hillary Clinton is very keen on what blogs have to say about her. Smart lady ehehe.
Lol…. I have gone a very long winded topic…
Basically I just want to say that I support Nuffnang now and reason is because I have now met them in person. No hard feelings to the Advertlets side but I don’t want an abundance of ads all over on my blog. I have seen enough ads as it is… LOL…. for those who know me… they know what I mean by this. It’s just a preference in the end, so this is mine.
