Yesterday was one of the craziest trips I’ve encountered. Me, Giden, Jeffrey, Lydia and David had taken a drive down for our friend’s wedding in Melacca.
Let’s start of the days with me and Giden waking up at 6.30am, rushed to get ready and then to meet up with the rest along with Deryk at University Tower (UT), located near University Malaya. David was on the way to UT and while waiting for him, Giden decided to go pump petrol for his car. Finally when everyone was ready we made the move in two cars towards Melacca. Needless to say Jeffey boy was asking for breakfast, Giden was starting to feel a bitttt queasy for his performance at the church wedding, and me and Lydia…. Well we had to endure boy talk for the rest of the way.
We were driving at least round 150km/h…I think…. I think!! Allowing us to grab some breakfast at the Ayer Keroh rest stop for a while, much to joy of Jeff who was begging for food. Just a shy 5 minutes away, the wedding was about to start… and we were still at the toll… aiya!
Well we managed to get there on time and… like Malaysian timing we started at 10.30am. The church was really nice and spacious and had the most interesting road entrance. In KL, we follow the UKs road rules, meaning driving towards somewhere is on the left lane and cars heading out is on the right lane. Here surprisingly… it followed American road rules. Terbalik!
Anyway the wedding reception was lovely, and it was such a joy to see Alan’s face grinning like a little boy. His bride Adel is very sweet girl and she looked absolutely stunning that day. We had never seen Adel… most of us anyway… till that day and wow is she one gorgeous girl from a distance and even more so up close.
After the wedding, we had about 6 hours to kill before the dinner. So we ended up driving around Melacca. To be exact we got LOST around Melacca!
We were first trying to find Mahkota Hotel, which is literally the south of Melacca away from Alan’s church.
The lobby of Mahkota Hotel.. if you walk up the staircase that was where the dinner was to be held.
That’s how sleepy they were.. standing and sleeping…. lol…
Then we went hunting for the famous chicken rice ball for lunch and ended up all over the place. Finally we were able to find Chongker Street. It’s just a name for the area but it’s really on Jalan Hang Jebat.
Oh oh oh.. and I have to tell. My GPS on my N95 FINALLY WORKED!! At long last, it finally worked. See there are three lights on the screen to tell me the satellites have been detected and my GPS position is located. Sadly in KL it never works! For the first time I saw all the lights green. And as we drove round in Melacca, the cross actually moved along with us, meaning the satellites were picking up my position. FINALLY!! So.. it seems in order for me to get phone to work properly I have to go all the way to Melacca….. joy…
Anyhoo… we still got lost. Hahaha but at least we managed to find our lunch. Which was at this place that served a delicious Asam Fish. The rice balls are just rice , but the Asam Fish…. Oooooo wow!!! Drooooollllll!!!
That’s Jeff’s head
Chicken….
Rice….. see the rice ball… yum chicken rice..local delights.
Ooooooo and best of alll Asam Fish (Sour Fish)… dellliiiiishhhhh
Eating done… now we were going to head on to an air conditioned place. We told Deryk to meet us at Pahlawan a new shopping mall.
Dataran Pahlawan – Melaka’s Version of MegMall.
So we got there and guess what made one big round the building because they refuse for us to park…. Well not exactly but their parking signs weren’t very friendly. Then poor Deryk couldn’t find his way and ended up buying a map. The poor dude was wondering around the city for bout half an hour.
Calling Deryk to see where he is while we just chilled.
See my worry/concern!!…. I don’t know what Giden was thinking…lol
…..then we just started snapping pics… he was trying to do squinted eyes but it didn’t work hahahha.
So we decided to just meet back at the hotel. Aiya ya ya…which was just in time for us to quickly bath and rush for the wedding dinner. But not before Jeff had to shock us by saying… we were in the wrong hotel!!! Just kidding! Don’t do that!!!We met Candice, Erica and Joanne at the dinner table.
We couldn’t do much chatting as the band playing was blasting really loud music…and of allll music’s after the bride and groom had walked in and sat down at the main table….they played “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson….. =S ****sweeeeatttt****
Helllooooooooo… it’s a wedding man!
The dinner was a real blast. Despite Melacca being really kinda almost ulu (as in old town) like, with terrible winding narrow roads that had no indication of who is going were, and possible for the cars to be knocked by opening house doors (yes that narrow!!). I was very delighted by how sporting the people were at the wedding. Typical Chinese weddings, do not usually involved dancing and even if they did KL people usually pile to one another and not go up to the dance floor out of shyness. Lydia and I had a blast!!! Most of the people got up to dance so we quickly ran up. Although …. I don’t know what kinda dance we were doing… but it was soooo much funnn!!! And for once…. Giden got up to dance, without me dragging him.. ah well!
When the wedding had ended, we were taking group pictures after group pictures.
The whollllleee gang.
The boys…..
The girls…. my camera took a blur pic… so people gimme the picture!!
You know who this is … haha…
Then we had a reminiscence time out with the groom. Talking about…. just stuff…. Lol. Just look at the happy couple!
Alan Low and Adel Lim… now as Mr and Mrs Low.
Then the group made its separate ways, to check in, to check out (at 11.15pm, who checks out at that hour??). The boys were unfortunately about to doze off and we had to really push them to wake up (hint hint David!) to wake up.. Hahahaa.
The ride back, was hehe… amusing. We were all screaming and shouting just to keep awake. David feel asleep first, then Lydia… then I nodded off for a bit.. but woke up to Jeff’s yacking. Which then made me start playing 20 questions with him. Then he made me play some lateral thinking game…. That really drove me nuts..cause I had to think logically and was sleepy at the same time!
The night finally ended with me and Giden dropping off the gang and us heading back home. Phew!!! What a day…. Got home at 2.15 in the morning…whee…
It was a really fun trip and hope to arrange another one soon.. hehhee
