I finally completed InuYasha… and my heart feels incredibly heavy now.  There was a good reason why I didn’t want to read it and I didn’t want to know the ending of InuYasha. Reason being that I had hopes it would go on forever and ever. The thing with stories is that once it comes to an end, you wish there was more, so that it can move along with your own life. But it doesn’t work that way does it. Stories will have a beginning, their obstacles giving it it’s meat and intrigue, finally it will have it’s ending.  In a way it’s like saying goodbye to a friend you’ve known for so long. Only to know you will never see the person again. Yeah I’m making some childish analogies. That’s how I’m feeling now though. InuYasha the manga was written by Rumiko Takahashi for 10 years and it finally came to an end… I knew that if were to read the end.. like end end end.. of the story, I would start to feel this way.  It’s a feeling of satisfaction and yet tragic because I know I will never see these characters I have grown to love so much. The theme of comradeship between all the characters against one pure evil – which in the end you that you can’t help but sympathise with because what he really wanted was to be with someone – in contrast with the group of friends.. he was all alone.

Full Cast

I have already exclaimed how much of a fan i am to anime. Today during a “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, we were all warming up and we came upon the topic of Dragonball… the movie!  I know it has been in the entertainment buzz for a while, but I cannot come to terms with the idea of Hollywood trying to turn this huge succesful comic/cartoon series into another one of their versions of what they think is ‘asian’. I want to also say that I grew up reading Dragonball, and while I may not have finished every single comic that was written for Dragonball and I have not seen every single one of the TV series. I’m pretty certain that I had a good childhood, growing up being entertained by these colourful, delightful, kungfu kicking, blur and annoying characters. They made me laugh!! And this is how I shall remember them.

But.. no….. some people just have to kill of some good childhood memories. I’m terribly terribly traumatised.. for these are the pictures I’m looking at for the Dragonball soon to be movie.. As much as I support movies, but no no no no no no. You can’t make everything into a movie.. It just kills certain things.

Let’s first fo through the cast members of Dragonball..

So we have Justin Chatwin who is acting as Goku. Sigh as much as I don’t want to disrespect or burst a bubble but really did they even get the hair right? And secondly Goku is a lot bulkier in the cartoon.Sure maybe the two of them have the same jaw line, but I’m rather skeptical. Can you see possibile similarities or even the essence of the Goku we have grown to love over the years? You know gel can only do so much to get the hair all spiked up.

Goku

Then we come to Bulma.. which another no disrespect meant, but the choice is soooooo far off!!! Emmy Rossum I love you and your voice, however i just don’t know whether she can pull off Bulma. The head strong, stubborn, hot young girl, who is so hunggry for eventure and can be a bit tomboyish on the side. Emmy has just too much of a kiddish face for the role. And also yet another one with the wrong hair!!!

Bulma

Next up is Chi Chi played by relatively new comer, Jamie Chung..I’m glad she looks a bit like Chi Chi. Maybe that has to do with the more skewed Asian look. She could pass off.. I’m not giving her a downright slash.. Chi chi was always seen as rather pretty but she was not as hot as Bulma.. I find that Jamie could be hotter than Bulma here…

Chi Chi

Moving on to the next male character…take a look at mr Piccolo. Now James Marsters is a favourite actor of mine when it comes to baddies. I’m sure everyone will remember him as Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with his sharp, and angled features, he actually does make a good Piccolo… But look at what he looks like

Piccolo

Sigh yeah I know…. not exactly what we were hoping for eh? He looks very much like his vampiric self in the Buffy Days.. well at least lease we get to revisit him from the days he has a happening vamp.  The last person I’ll pick on is Mr Yun-Fat Chow. Where is his beard and moustache!!!!!!???? The shirt sure it can look as ridiculous as the comic, but he looks nothing like that perverted old man who knows kung fu so well.. Even if Fat can pull it off, I’m having my doubts on him making it believable as the real Master Kame.. which now they’ve decided to call as Master Roshi.

Roshi

I found a bunch of still images, from this site Dragonball-Live. You can go there and check out some of the still shots. I promise.. you will either cry with glee or horror.. You can also go to Dragonballfilm.es

That’s what the tournament place looks like.. aiii…  Well, i’ll still watch it but I have high expectations that I will not be terribly impressed by it. I know lots of hard work has been put into it.. there are just some things like I said… you can’t and should not make into a movie. Especially when it deals with Japanese cartoons which are really hard to form into real humans. For they are just so out there.
For those of you who follow my plurk, I have mentioned a couple of times, that I’m at terrible Anime phase at the moment. The first anime that I went back to watching was Tenchi Muyo. Which then followed on back to me reading the manga InuYasha. Originally I had stopped reading manga and watching anime for the longest time, easily a couple of years. I had stopped reading InuYasha when the TV series had stopped, even though the manga had continued on. That said though, I purposely didn’t want to red it because I was taking it for granted that the story will continue on and on and on and on… you get the point. Rumiko Takahashi drew and wrote InuYasha in 1998… gosh that was when I was still in school.

Then a piece of news hit me when i went on a search for it, to see what was happening with the storyline after not following for a while. InuYasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale… had ended. It broke my heart :( sigh. Ten wonderful years… ten… TEN!!! That’s how long the story had been going on for. I prefer Inu-Yasha way more to her previous big hit which was Ranma 1/2 for after a while towards the end, the story for Ranma got a tad lame… too lame for that matter. So InuYasha has now finished at volume 56.. sigh… ah well good things do have to come to an end. You can see all the manga’s here. I went then on a big hunt to find the manga online and guess what not only did i find the complete manga of InuYasha. I also found tons of other mangas that are shared. All the mangas… It’s here at OneManga.com. It is the most beautiful site I have ever come across.. Meaning while all the Tv shows,. are on a break right now. I can be busy reading, manga all day wheeee
