In addition to the Valentine’s Day Wallpaper post, I’m also doing a collection of images that are related with the season and the ‘feeling’ or ‘thought’ of what love is.. These are just artistic images and I thought some of them were interesting enough to share. Let’s see what I was able to find. Some of them are images that can be bought on deviantart. If you like them enough do consider! I’ve also added the artists comments on their images. Heh it’s all about looking at art in abstract (or not) for this post. I’m also writing this post cause I just wanted to see how others view love..

Love is the smell of summer on a hot afternoon
Love is that tiny spark along the horizon
Love is a four letter word
Love is when you want time to stop
for one more moment
one more day
one more forever.

“Hold it up, then light it up for the world to see” ~atomic-ikon

love is… by ~dorkmunch

love is
painful
messy
work
worth it?

My comments: What I find unique about this photo, is that it shows how love is not all cozy, and made of wonderful images or words. Love between people is sometimes painful. With obstacles blocking the very essence of what it means to love. The relationships that come with human love is hard.. and confusing. I don’t think I’ll ever break the code, get the code or even understand the code. But that’s just it isn’t it… there are no rules for love.. is there? The image above reads for me that with every love there are sacrifices and heartbreaks.. In the end though it may all be worth it. The picture above can look tragic and sad, however i see a tiny light at the end of the picture. In a way the picture represents the last bit of hope. Despite the wounds on the heart but in the end it is mended.

Love by *ladyrapid

This is a little sudden for me, to post something so strong and meaningfull just like this , BAM! .

I saw this flower and thought, hmm what can I do with this one rather than just take a plain straight up shot on it.
After some concideration I think it can be fun to do something not so common and with a more personal touch. The idea of trying to display some kind of feeling or mode felt like something cool.
I picked it all except 1, now you get the title huh .

Love can be represented in many many different ways, this is just my personal touch to it all. What I like most of this photo/work is the fresh sense of it. It’s not “just another photo”, it’s a nice little twist on a long and great message/concept, love.
There’s different types of love, the one you have for your family, for your clothes, for your friends, for photographing etc etc . This perhaps can show and view MY love to photographing and everything around it.

To symbolise a message, thought, idea etc you aren’t bound to use the colours intendet, as in this photo you’d say that red is essential but no. It’s the colours I choose to mediate together with my ideas. With that said I want you all to stop think so closed-minded about colours, go outside the boarders and experiment. It’s only with new ways we can invent new things ^^.

Love by =ahermin

According to the Greek legend, red roses arised from blood of Adonis who was killed by a wild boar on a hunt. In Greek mythology red rose was a symbol for the cycle of growth and decay, but also for love and affinity. Red rose is dedicated to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and daughter of Zeus.

…I found this bloom by the sea last evening, hunting for sunsets. It was quite touching to see its strong colors even after death. What’s funny is that when I went home and I blew up the frame on my monitor, I clearly distinguished the textile texture in the petals, revealing it’s artificial origin…

love. by ~jan-ex

Love is beyond all words.

this is inspired by all the typography work i have seen around on deviant art. but i have decided that love is a language beyond all – anyone in the world would have experienced love- no matter which form it is in: family, friends, spiritural…

and so i figured i should translate it to ALOT of different languages. since the language of ‘love’ is international so i went on google and searched for online translator(s) to translate the word, love (in english), to 30+ different languages. (so i’m really sorry if some ain’t correct, since i don’t really speak/write/read your language : P)

yep. so spread the love, darlings.

The Love Omen by `gilad

This light in your eyes, only I can see

This smile on your face, devoted just for me
This love in my heart, that forever will be
I know somebody must be looking over
You and me

My Comments: I just thought this was a simple yet touching poem. See you don’t need to say much.

Love Pollution by ~ll

So, yes, anyways – an anti valentines day message this year – I’m really not against the idea of celebrating love – love is a many splendid thing after all – I just take issue with the notion that’s it’s one huuuuge buildup to one day of the year – guys are under pressure to get the perfect gift, girls are obssessing about all the romatic things they’ll invariably end up not doing – and all the singletons winge about how they’re so unlucky! Much like Christmas and all other major holidays, it’s a lot of buildup to what is largely a very damp squib of a day that only rarely lives up to your expectations…

And yet – this one’s not even a religious holiday! Ok, birth of a deity, fair enough, you can have a day devoted to that, death of a deity you can have best part of a week – but a saint being mauled by a lion? Now you’re pushing it!

Yet in spite of that, like it or loathe it, everyone feels compelled to participate – and so the factory owners laugh a hearty laugh for another year and stoke the fires to belch out more cards, gifts and other materialistic tokens of love – leaving valentine’s day ending up looking cheap, nasty, suffocationg, sickening…anybody see where I’m going here?

Ahem, anywho, I think my point is made – whatever your status, much love to all for this time of year – I know it’s a pain in the ass and an excuse to sell more chocs before Easter but have a good one all the same

My commnets: I purposely decided to add this picture to the collection, cause it’s a simple way of showing how valentine’s day has become nothing more than a commercial event. Really is the day about love? Or about spending? You have ridiculous prices for food, roses and chocolates which should never be. For me I’ll be honest in saying that, it is special for me because that was the day I got together with the person i care for. I don’t want to buy into all the hype of the so called ‘love’ on that day. Valentine’s Day may be my original anniversary day but as of this year I’ll be anti-Vday.

My comments: Need I say more why this was included

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (New International Version)

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

It’s the season of the year which i enjoy the most. I just have this happy and light feeling whenever Christmas is about to come around. Listening to christmas carols, special collection of songs sung by our favourite pop artist, to see all the snowy decor hung on the walls. Ohh just little silly things that are ‘suppose’ to represent christmas. It’s not about the presents under the christmas tree. It’s not about the cookies or the stockings or the chestnuts roasting by the fire (well we don’t have a fire here anyway).

It’s a time to share, love and give. Hence I spent some time to make for you guys a wallpaper. My gift to ya’ll and my second gift will be coming up soon.
Just got back from ‘The Boyfriend Musical’ audition, not too bad but I just hope that give me a callback. I don’t care what role i get I just want to be involved!

That aside, to get my mind of that for the time being, went surfing on Youtube. I love looking at tutorials online and there was one I came across when I was searching for some latest news or videos on Lost. I found this video, which i’ve seen before, but thought of sharing it this time. This guy has drawn some of the cast members straight from I think either Photoshop with airbrushing it on the comp and using a Digital Tablet. Really cool to see it down in fast motion. ^_^

He’s also done other characters other than Sawyer like Locke and Kat, which was a gorgeous drawing. Personally I like the Kat drawing more.

I can’t do that, wish I could, but I do know a friend, Ari, who hides his ability in this kind of drawing. Click here to see some of his photoshop works. Hehe.

I was blog hopping when I found this site called CGArena, and whoa does he have talent. Look at this picture. Is it a real pic? Or not?

All images are from CGArena

The texture of her skin in the picture above, is amazing. I’m always fascinated when I see 3D art like this. It’s already hard as it is to do it in 2d, but creating the right textures and not to mention the little baby hairs that are just floating about her fragile face. You can tell though from the eyes, if you zoom in that it’s not a real human. Interesting though, doens’t matter how real you make them to look, like that of Final Fantasy and Half Life or whatever other movie that uses CGI. The eyes of human can never lie.

He designed her from scratch, by looking at tons of pictures of the actual Korean singer/actress Hye Kyo. When i say scratch.. this is her epidermis.

Pretty cool eh?

Now take a look at the actual process of him creating this piece of art on his site. See the making.

It’s not everyday that I take the LRT (Light Railway Train), but the other day when I was to meet up with some friends to discuss a script, I purposely took the opportunity to use it. One because I can save petrol and two because I really wanted to share what I saw the last time when I passed by the Pasar Seni Station.

As you sit on the LRT, you have a good view of a number of things on ground and this particularly caught my attention. Underneath the LRT railway there is a river.. or some sort of a river, or maybe it’s just one HUGE drain. Anycase there is some walking space on the cemented banks and on the walls there is a long line of graffiti. Which to be quite frank looks rather interesting.
I thought it kinda cool to also get into the whole graffiti vibe and put up my own graffiti or aronil.com heh. Can you spot it?

Today was Photoshop World Asia Pacific 2007. Held at Mandarin Oriental, KL at an unforsaken 8.45am in the morning, of course that was just registration and you know what? For the first time ever in the history of me being Malaysian…the event started on the DOT! We were actually on time for once! Hahaha..

Anyway the day was more of presentation of what Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended could do for you. And I tell you… the way how Adobe has grown and grown over the years to becoming a fascinating tool… not to mention a tool that is so widely used it practically dominates the creative market.

Having said that the event was presented by three speakers: Marion Young, Michael and Christine Serks, who all know their stuff with Photoshop…. don’t “pray pray” with em’.

I won’t go through a long article on what are the latest cool things on Adobe Photoshop CS3 and the Extended version (what is this a movie?). But briefly I shall say that it has made being a graphic designer a lot easier. Even in terms for people who use it for web designing, video editing and would you believe it these people use photoshop too: doctors, sonographers, engineers and interior designers (which is what the Photoshop CS3 EXTENDED, is for)

How so? Firstly one it has an option for creating 3d images out of static flat 2d images.

Secondly, you know how for some scientists they have to count every single cell underneath a microscope and they could lose count? Under the ruler option, there’s a new feature called the count tool. Which helps you to number the amount of items you wish to count on your image. Also the ruler allows u to measure just about anything even accurate measurements for the human anatomy.

The best part about Photoshop fans, is that it can even allow you to create simple video animations. Like so. And it’s sooo cool.. you can WARP a video!!!! WARP!! and ADD normal blending effects to the video like any other layer on Photoshp.

At the end of the day, Adobe was giving away 1 Photoshop cs3 and 2 Photoshop cs3 Extended. The crowd went nuts! Since it was a lucky draw, everytime someone’s name was called and no one answered, the crowd immediately screamed….”TAK DAAAA” or “NOT HEREEEE” or “GONE HOME”.

Sad to say I didn’t get one

Ah but having said that.. it still support Adobe… They ROCK!
