O’ Zapft is!

In English, this means “it is tapped!” The ritual of tapping the first Oktoberfest barrel marks the start of the annual Oktoberfest celebration in Munich. My darling sister is over there now, having her first original Oktoberfest.. but that doesn’t mean i can’t have fun as well.

It’s been a while since I’ve been for an event, so what a nice way to start mingling again with the girls. Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers were invited to Brotzeit for the launch of Oktoberfest on Saturday 17th September 2011.

i just adore the Oktoberfest hat and it matched my dress for that day! simple joys of life ^_^

The ambiance is wonderful and the wall of just beer bottles was a lovely added touch.

Almost simultaneously across the globe,  on the same day, Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant in Mid Valley will observe this tradition by having its very own tapping of the first barrel at 7.30pm,  a symbolic gesture to turn on its Paulaner Oktoberfest bier tap, making available the much awaited brew. Brotzeit‘s customers will be one of the first to savour this year’s  Paulaner Oktoberfestbier on the tap paired perfectly  with authentic cuisine prepare by our very own Bavarian Executive Chef, Helmut.

Chef Helmut in his German Trachten summer attire, officiated the launch by doing the tapping honors of this year’s Paulaner Oktoberfestbier!

Oktoberfest traditions date back to the fairy tale wedding of the then Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese in 1810, on October 12th to be precise, where for the first time the local community were invited. With free flow of beer and abundant food, the celebrations went on for 5 days.  So much fun they had, that it was repeated year after year, each year on a grander scale than the last, to what has today become Munich’s famed Oktoberfest – the world’s largest beer festival celebrated universally.   Only six Munich breweries are allowed to brew Oktoberfestbier in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516 and the breweries of Paulaner and Hacker Pschorr are two of the six .

Mynn and I at the Oktoberfest. we just had to hijack the hats… they totally matched us in our cute little dresses. heee ^_^

Taking a moment to think on what to tweet.

Besides the beer, the party was served with Brotzeit SchnitzelTag specialities  including Jagerschnitzel, Reisenschnitzel, Bauern cordon schnitzel varieties.

Mynn, Wilee and I going gaga over the awesome food.

From top right to left: Jagerscnitzel (RM38) : grilled escalope of pork with mushroom sauce,  Kartoffelhappen: spicy Potato Wedges, Chicken breast with mustard and side of mash potatoes , Cordon bleu: breaded escaloped of pork stuffed with fine leg ham and melted cheese. Absolutely sinful, but they were really good! Check out the menu.

Here’s the wonderful Chef Helmut of Brotzeit together with Mynn, Me and Wilee. Don’t we just look adorable with our hats hehe

What you see here is an amazing pizza.. that i didn’t get to try because the girls all walloped it up as i was out talking to a friend >.<  but that’s ok.. less calories for me :P But the pizza looks awesome doesn’t it. Ham pizza (Brotzeitflade) – tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, belly bacon, leg ham, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, cocktail onions and mushrooms. The price for this is RM32.

Ok truth be told i was still on my crazy diet, so i was ecstatic when the chef brought out something that could appease my poor stomach and still permitted me to remain a good girl to my diet. A chicken breast platter with a side of salad. Yummm

And to finish the food escapade. We had the Emperor’s Cake! Also known as Kaiserschmarren
and is shredded pancake with rum and raisins served with plum sauce.

ooooo and this is one beer you have to try called the Mango Bir! mmpppphh yummilicious

We found a lighter that looked like a gun, so Mynn and I decided to have some with fun it :P . in the middle is our dear friend Jason, who also joined in on the beer beer fun.

At Brotzeit,  Paulaner Oktoberfestbier will be available on draft from 17th September 2011 till the last barrel runs dry before the end of October.  Die hard Paulaner fans can also take home the seasonal original, Oktoberfest-to-go set comprising of a 1 litre can and an original mass (glass mug) to savour when it is available no more.

So what are you waiting for? Head on down to Midvalley Megamall where Brotzeit is at. The best part on Wednesday there will be a live band who will entertain you as you munch and drink the night away.

Brotzeit will be having a grand Oktoberfest celebration on the 12th and 13th of October 2011, where they will be having the Paulaner Musikanten, a traditional Oompah band flown all the way from Munich to perform live in Brozeit; as well as plenty of games, song, dance, food and of course, beer!

Not many girls out there enjoy a beer. But i do! I find that it relaxes me.. despite the fact that i know it contains tonnnnnnss of calories. LOL!

I had the wonderful honour of attending the Grimbergen Blonde Beer Launch on Wednesday at Brussels Beer Cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed the Blonde Beer. But before anything lets talk about the Grimbergen brand!

Grimbergen’s origins can be traced to 1128 when St. Norbert founded the Abbey of Grimbergen in the village of Grimbergen near Brussels in Belgium. The Abbey’s Norbertine Fathers helped those in need, primarily by offering food, drink and shelter to passing pilgrims. The area surrounding the Abbey produced hops and barley of the highest quality and over a number of years the Father’s perfected a range of Grimbergen recipes that were eagerly drunk by patrons of the inn attached to the Abbey.

The license to brew and distribute the Grimbergen brand was acquired by The Carlsberg Group as a part of the Scottish and Newcastle acquisition. And that is how we got the chance to taste the exquisite Grimbergen beer!

When we first stepped in, a lot of bloggers were already there and immediately we were greeted with the most delicious array of food.

Here’s the Grimbergen Blonde Beer!

Check out the spread

Brussels Pork sausage, meat balls in cameralized onion sauce, calamari rings and chips platter. Oooo goodness me!

RedFM Late Night Love Songs Girls!

Was worried for a bit when i took a sip of the Blonde beer drink which is 6.5% alcohol, in comparison to the 5% of a normal beer. Upon letting it just slide down my throat i have to say it was a very very smooth texture. Very refreshing indeed!

And of course there has to be a video!

Thanks so much to Carlsberg and Brussels Beer Cafe for an excellent time!

It is that time of the year again. Where we bring much joy and cheer. And what more to do it than with a bottle of Carlsberg beer. Lol I hadn’t realized that the sentence has rhymes in it. Last year, a friend of mine Davina Goh had entered the FHM Girls Next Door 2009 contest. She managed to be one of the top ten finalist and even then I’m already proud of her for getting that far! The FHM Girls Next Door contest has started again and this time you can get invites to the PARTY!!! And just to give you a taste of who the contestants are… I’m putting up my Top 4 (Girls please don’t hate me – you are all gorgeous!) clip_image002clip_image004 clip_image006clip_image008 Well those are my top 4 anyway. Want to know their names or see more of the other contestants? Then head on to the fan page! For all you know, you may actually KNOW one of the girls that have been nominated in as one of the finalist. Really is a Carlsberg Nice One :P Ok now how is this related to anything techy? Well look on below and you’ll see that in order to get invites to the FHM Girls Next Door 2010 Party you will need to first of all play a little game on facebook. For those who aren’t already familiar with the infamous social medium head on to Facebook and make yourself an account to check out the pretty ladies on this year. How? **Did I also mention you can have a party hosted at the Carlsberg HQ for free if you win?** Follow the instructions below. You have to play a game I call “hanging your friends on the Christmas tree”. :P Basically the more friends you hang on the tree as little trinkets, your tree will get taller and taller. Step 1 – Head on to The Carlsberg Application here clip_image010 Step 2 – Pick a friend.. any friend and choose a pic from their photos. clip_image012 Step 3 – Add your friend to your trinket tree. clip_image014 Now repeat! And keep doing it to make your tree bigger and bigger. All the best to you fellow contestants. I’m also going ahead to make my tree grow hehe. You can find out more about how to get that big party by Carlsberg here. **Little disclaimer this is an advertorial**
