This years birthday feel rather special and unique for me. It began with my day slugging out of bed and not knowing what was going to happen at a couple of the events I was going for (especially the Puteri Gunung Ledang audition which I’ll talk about later here.)  However despite, my long long day and spontaneous arrangements for dinner. I want to say there is a saving grace from all that. Friends. :)   Sure even if it was because of facebook or whatever. But one thing sure left me smiling today which was the birthday greats. Opening up my emails todays this is what greated me along with a couple of sms thrown in. It’s not a counting thing la.. but it just brighten up the rather bleak day. Did I mention it was raining cats and dogs, with flash floods here and there causing massive jams. Let me just show what I meant by a number of emails from facebook notifications which really made me smile. Rough Idea..

bday-wishes

Family of course is another thing that made me smile :) As always, it’s a tradition with my family that for birthdays we have to cut the cake before the next day strikes and it’s no longer your birthday. It’s also tradition that I have to take pictures lol.

First with dad.

Then with mom.

Then with Lincoln, Ness and grandma.

Finally with Mister G.

Everyone’s in their PJs now lol.

So my aunt had gotten one cake ready. But my sister, Nessa also decided to get me a cake. What was so cute bout the lil munchkin getting me a cake, was that she wanted her friends Sarah, Jason and Pei Shang. The four of them got me a cake too and boy was it a rich cake.

My mom had a wonderful time poking and making fun at me. After singing the birthday song, I blew out the candles. But there was one particular candle which refused to go out.  I think I blew it out easily 8 times or so. It just kept on lighting itself back up! Like helllo go out already! And my saliva was practically all over the cake by then- haha.. talk about marking your territory.

I looked at my mom, because she was the only one giving off an evil laughter.. like this.. nyek hehehehehe. Thats my mom for you lol. She then revealed what was up with the candles.

mybday2008_4 She bought relighting candles!?? And she was still laughing.. Sheesh, so easily entertained. See how i retaliate and show my annoyance. Pyshco cutting cake lol.

The following day, you can say was an add on to the cake fiesta. My other family the Footstool Players, gave me a little surprise by bringing out a birthday cake, during the set up session at SIB kl. Awww… just awww. Thanks to Ann for getting the cake, and I’m quite certain they were trying to make sure I didn’t leave till they sang.. um…and echoed the birthday song hahah in the massive hall. That’s the SIB church auditorium, beautiful place i have to tell ya.

I didn’t manage to take a pic of the full cake sad to say, cause we just went smack right into the cutting of the cake.

OOooh and Mister G took me to Shangri La for my birthday dinner. Once again no picture cause it was straight to the food. And the darling bought me something, which to be frank I did not expect cause…. just cause. But he got me something and it’s gorgeous! I can’t wait to wear it when I go for the Wade Robson workshop tomorrow. Yes you heard me, Wade Robson is in KL babeh! Ooooo yeah

So it was a great birthday time.. See me smile!! :)
So another 5 more minutes to go.. that should pretty much be the time once i finish this post. Another year passes by, another day has moved on..and what can I say as I look back at this year. I think it has never been so full just before I add another number to myself.  It’s very funny on this special day that you would like to consider ‘yours’. It’s not exactly yours alone of course, but it just feels that way because you know this is the day you’ve been created in the heaven and God has deemed for you to awaken. This day gives me two mixed feelings.  On one hand I feel, really happy because I get to celebrate the making of me… so narcissitic I know.. but let me delve in it for a little while. It’s not everyday in a year, you get to gloat and bask in it. I feel with joy because this special day is coming soon. When i was younger it marked the years that I have matured.. an occassion which made me even more legal – so to speak. I remember waiting for the time I hit 13, cause that was the teen years.. woot. I remember waiting for the time I hit sweet 16, just cause it was sweet. Then came the big 18 meaning I was legal to drink alcohol… no that’s not why I wanted to be 18. Finally it came down to the last teen – 19. After that it was the big 20. 21 meant I was free, I was at the legal age of an adult. Yeah right! So all those years, which i enjoyed the numbers adding up. What exactly was the joy of waiting for those numbers. Nothing lol.  In the ends it’s just another number.  But looking back, I’m real happy because in this year. I’ve met so many new people. Made new friends. Had some fantastic experiences. Had some great lessons. I wouldn’t have asked for anything more.. Of course I would love to have a few other things under my wing. But all in all.. I’m happy!  Thanks everyone – especially those on Facebook for the wishes! Here’s to a new number.
Syazy my dear friend who is now trying her hardest to work in Wales was back for the weekend, to celebrate her mom’s 50th birthday (which was actually a week ago). I knew parents could have fun, but this was really a treat to see people not around my age but still able to enjoy having a blast and just hanging with company that they all like. The party was held at Rick’s Cafe Casablance located in Onebangsar. I once again thank God for such a thing called Google Maps. The earlier part of the day had me running around The Curve to find a mask for the masquerade party… Yes you heard me MASQUERADE PARTY! Gosh i didn’t think i’d go to on ever in my life and this was a blast!! It was so much fun, everyone in masks with glitter and fru fru feathers. I bought one at Axxezz for about RM33. Not too bad till i found out you could get even nicer ones for the same price at Great Eastern Mall… dang it!!!! Then when I got to the party, there were beautiful masks all over the place. Way nicer than mine! So it didn’t hurt to go around each table and pick one to take pictures… Hehehe  going to a masquerade party reminds me of two things. Gossip Girls – The Handmaiden’s Tale, when they had a lavish masquerade ball.

and The Phantom of The Opera – Masquerade. Let’s sing a song :)

CHORUS Masquerade! Paper faces on parade . . . Masquerade! Hide your face, so the world will never find you!

Ahhh…. that brings back memories…

Yes… as a chef.. or a student chef.. my sister was absolutely horrified to see good carrots gone to waste by the magician. He was trying to show that it is sharp and the blade he was fiddling with is real. As any birthday party, there “has” to be some lame magician show. Now, see, I have a little brother who is really into doing magic tricks. Least he was at one point. So when I start to look at magic shows, I’m either trying my darndest to figure it out or I’ll be saying ok I know how he did it. Lol.

Here we have the birthday lady’s husband, Uncle Rahim, giving a really sweet speech about his wife. About all the times they’ve had together as a couple, why 50 is such a significant time, the obstacles she has faced. The birth of her wonderful children and not forgetting the people whom she’ve met. And whom enjoy her company and visa versa. ^_^

The lovely family. The gorgeous lady of 50 is standing there in gold. This is the whole family together with the masquerade cake. The cake was delicious just that the icing was kinda hard. But the texture of the chocolate cake inside…. muak… magnifique.

This white mask is probably my favourite out of all the masks we had just simply grabbed from each table.

They also just had to… and i mean had to put on some songs that were popular back in the 80s.. or 70s.. Memorable songs like YMCA, Saturday Night Fever, Tell Me More by Grease, I Will Survive and the must must for every party. The Macarena, lol, which my sister quickly jumped right in. lol.. aww so cute.

See told you the masks were really nice and they were so much fun!!! I’m going to have a masquerade party too one day. A real must!

The girl in the middle is Syaz and she’s probably on her way back to Wales now at this point.
May 14th was my adorably tom boyish yet cute little sister, Nessa’s Birthday. We didn’t cut the cake with her till I came back from rehearsals which was close to 11pm that night. The late hour though didn’t stop me or us from going mad with the camera. I think there is a very fine reason why we should not take Livita in the evening.

Here’s the Birthday Cake.
