 What is blogging?

I’ll make it clean and simple, by just saying that it is an activity that allows you to jot down your thoughts and life experiences.  It’s an online platform where you get to exercise freedom of speech ranging from good, sophisticated speech to the downright rude crude words. I did say it was freedom of speech. ^_^

I’ve been in the blogging sphere for a while now and i’ve had the wonderful honour of meeting quite inga lot of people due to blogging. So when i first told that i would be interviewing peers in the blogging world on my show on RedFM, i was really ecstatic.

and this is the first time i’m going to be attending a blog award! A red carpet blog event.. fuyoh!!

And now i’m giving away some party passes to the After Party at Zouk KL! Do you want to go for the party and get hooked up with a pretty blogger :P  kidding.

Then tune into me all this week on red.fm 104.9 in the Klang Valley. Am giving away the party passes at the 2PM hour!

Two years ago, the best of the best in the blogosphere were celebrated with the inaugural Asia-Pacific Blog Awards, and now, Nuffnang is honoured to be bringing the regional awards ceremony back, this time to Malaysian shores!

Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers and guests from all over the Asia-Pacific region will once again take to the red carpet, and be treated to a night of fine dining and brilliant entertainment in Kuala Lumpur, the bustling metropolitan capital of Malaysia. Aside from being honoured for their hard work and contribution to the blogosphere, they will also get the opportunity to tour the city and experience the unique Malaysian culture for themselves.

All of this week i had the chance to meet these amazing bloggers and interview them during my show at the 2pm hour on RedFM

Let me intro you to them

Finally after like ages and ages of waiting, my name on Facebook has been changed to something that’s closer to my real name.

Linora Aronil Low

A number of people have gotten confused between my real name and my online name aronil. To the point some even thought I was a guy because of the name Aronil!!!! Harlooooo it’s no where near the name Aron or Aaron.. no offence to any Aarons out there. I’ve been trying to change it for over a month and reason it didn’t allow me apparently was one) approval issues with facebook. 2) I did not know i had to put in my full name. Which I’m never revealing here. Anyway, just a short post to say it’s now as it should be (pppeehhh) Linora Aronil Low. I still insist on putting Aronil there! So there! ^_P Although i’m going to miss seeing it just as Aronil Low…. oh well.

I’m trying out a new comment system called Intense Debate Beta. I was actually going through a few sites and came across this option to add myself to Intense Debate when I was commenting on this blogger’s page. While I’m a blgger hat enjoys traffic stats going up every once in a while, but i like even more taking a look to see comments popping into my inbox. Cause that means I get to hear what others think. :) So what does Intense debate look like?

instantdebate

and what does it do? Just like another commenting social network i tried which was SezWho and CoComment. Work the same but, what I just like about Intense Debate has to offer, which are the blogging tools, the easy import/export of comments between blog and your account. The ability to track all your comments. Like which post has the most comments and this will give me a good idea to what the people out there like discussing on. Or rather what was appealing to read. I’m still with cocomment but after transferring my blog to here, i kinda stopped playing around with that so i’m gonna give it another try again. :) So here is me activating it Technorati Profile. Need to activate it via Technorati for cocomment. Back on to Intense Debate. Your dashboard will show all the latest comments and comments that need moderation. As well as the latest comments that you have posted on other people’s blogs.

instantdebate2

These are the ways you can track your comments.

instantdebate4

The other feature which i enjoy, is that my blog will get to be seen by other people. And whenever you comment, you can also rate not just the comment (like on Youtube’s comments) but check out the commenter and rate their skills in commenting. lol.

instantdebate3

So if you end up seeing something that makes you register for Intense Debate for the first time you comment, don’t panic. ^_^  If anything at all, do sign up. I think the commenting social network is starting to grow and this shall be a lot more helpful than just socialising via blogs.

Ok while I love the look of WordPress v2.5 I’m going to write my review on what it’s been like for me since I upgraded to it, which was like a days ago. Yesterday, before the upgrade, I was a bit excited and worried at the same time. I saw what wordpress.org looked like so it only registered midway in my brain that my wordpress control panel would have quite a number of changes too. There are pros and cons of course which i will in as much detail as possible. Pros
  1. I will say first say first of all, I love the new look. Which I already mentioned in a .
  2. The dashboard is a wonderful sea of information which is neatly arranged in big words for the more important and urgent matters like comments, writing a post and not to mention a neat RSS function on the latest plugins. [singlepic=1,450,,,center] Which I’m very appreciative of because it allows me a plugin freak to see what works best with my blog. Also i personally love the new plugin i just placed on it – the WordPress.com Stats. Showing me stats of today or top posts or whatever, but it’s still new so not much stats yet. I also love the fact that now I can see the latest comments straight away.
  3. The writing panel is pretty different too now. [singlepic=2,450,,,center]If you notice for those who are familiar, they have removed the upload image box at the bottom of inserting content and instead they have buttons on the top that allows you to upload your different files from images, audio and video. Although I’m still getting used to those. They have a new feature too which is the full screen option when typing out a new post. Which is pretty nifty i have to say. I am also liking the new feature of the formats. instead of just the name now they give you a preview to what format you’ll be giving your text.
  4. There is also now the managing of tags on wordpress v2.5 and instead of options we now have a button that says settings which is suppose to help with the management of all your plugin features. [singlepic=4,450,,,center] The plugin section now allows you to update your plugins right from your admin panel. Of course that could have been done with a plugin but if you don’t have one it’s good enough. The plugin panel also now has the ability to deactivate all the plugins at once, which is real handy instead of having to click every single one of them. The new add media button allows you to add sorts of items, even ranging from google maps to documents… i think ^_P
Cons
  1. Moving on to what I’m not crazy about. First off, while the post page has been upgraded a lot by far. But I don’t like the fact that the panels are no longer editable. Meaning I can’t drag each panel up or down anymore. The tags, categories, excerpt, trackbacks, etc.. are all located at the bottom and would’ve preferred them at the side to limit scrolling action.
  2. Because of the upgrade, there are some very helpful plugins that made my life so much happier, but I can’t use them anymore due to incompatibility. :sniff: Such as the Flexible upload which i was loving sooooo much.. to the point
  3. …. hmm i guess thats my only few complaints ^_^
