Please Be Careful

I’ve always been told to be careful, especially whenever i have events or just gone to hang out with friends –to not to be too late in going home. Now i agree and i also encourage it to my friends and anyone else out there. This month alone, two of my friends have been robbed and attacked. A year ago as well my friend was robbed right out of her while she was still in it. Going a few years back, my own mother was robbed just outside her office. :( I know stuff like this can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. But it becomes an even bigger concern, when people you know and care for have been in these bad situations. You can erase the things that have happened, however one can be extra careful now. This goes out especially to my lady friends out there. Lessons learnt 1. Don’t have your bag on the front seat. My friend Min Li was driving around Bangsar area at a late time, possibly around 10ish? Her bad was left on the front seat, just like any of us girls. We leave it there, so it’s easy for us to take things while we drive. Since her bag was on the front seat it was very easy for a guy on a motorcycle to just smash her passenger window and take it. Needless to say they were scared off by her massivel loud shrilly screams. Good on you girl. Scream your heart our and scare the buggers! Thank God she wasn’t harmed :( . So please do place the bag somewhere else, i know it’s hard to do so, but us girls need to keep it elsewhere, other than the front seat. 2. Don’t carry your handbag on the same side as the road. This happened to my mother.. my dear dear mom. And i’m still peeved off by the guys who did this to her. This was just outside her office. She went to go to her car which was in broad daylight. There was a green BMW, which she didn’t think anything off. As she was walking, the car was slowly being driven up behind her. The window must have been done cause next thing she knows, her handbag is pulled off and she’s partially dragged on the ground. She let go in time and the stupid robbers got away with the handbag. Never mind that, now she had a terrible wound on her arm from the fall (the scar is still there till today), she could’ve hit her head or broken a bone or even fractured something. Ladies be careful with your handbags, you never know who is sneaking behind you. 3. Nothing ever good happens after two Going out to ever single person there. Times are bad and especially during the festive seasons – for some reason. Two of my friends had gone out for supper or something at night.. realllll late at night. You can read their posts on their blogs here at Mike Yip and at Tony Leo Salvaraj. Both faced an ordeal that are equally just as scary. Click on the links to read their story. Mental note to myself and the rest out there.. I know going out is fun, but we have to be careful.. and i suppose curfews are there for a reason. Even if you do go out, two to a group isn’t enough and a bigger group would be better. Always have people whom you know and trust with you. Carry pepper spray! If i could I’d carry a taser if that were even permitted here. This could really happen to anyone, and paranoid is not just a small thing, cause if it can happen to close friends of yours.. you never know when one day it may happen to you. In the meantime, always pray that these bad things won’t happen to any of us. Rather I pray that those who succumb to doing these evil things that they find something else more worthwhile with their life, rather than to rob, creating havoc to society. To all my friends out there or just anyone, please be careful when you are out there these days. Love and lots of peace.

Hammock Me Butt

I just realised that I have a lot of blog catching up to do. There are tons of things i want to write about but I just keep procrastinating them. Either that or I forget.  Anyways just to keep up. Yesterday I went to Min Li’s house to chill with Nick Dorian. We were actually suppose to be taking pictures to do the Kame Hame Ha post for the Dragonball competition by Nuffnang. I did want to do it just to test myself at being creative again. But I could not bring myself to bother after i sat down on her couch. Wejust kept on talking about how BAD the Dragonball movie is. I will admit that have not seen the movie, but after watching the trailer (and btw the trailer is the thing that intrigues you to want to watch the film) I wanted to vomit!!!!!!! Really vomit. I already gave my opinions on the trying-so-hard-to-be-anime-destroyed-by-Hollywood-film here at this post. So instead we decedid to just chill and laze about. I never knew that she had two hammocks strung up on her balcony. Me and Nic decided to jump on them – not literally – and swing about.  Needless to say though, the hammocks were a bit loose. At least the one I was sitting on and this resulted in my butt not being very high from the ground.

 

See what I mean by my butt is a few cm off the floor. And NO it is not because I’m heavy! The hammock was loose!!!

My First Masquerade Party

Syazy my dear friend who is now trying her hardest to work in Wales was back for the weekend, to celebrate her mom’s 50th birthday (which was actually a week ago). I knew parents could have fun, but this was really a treat to see people not around my age but still able to enjoy having a blast and just hanging with company that they all like. The party was held at Rick’s Cafe Casablance located in Onebangsar. I once again thank God for such a thing called Google Maps. The earlier part of the day had me running around The Curve to find a mask for the masquerade party… Yes you heard me MASQUERADE PARTY! Gosh i didn’t think i’d go to on ever in my life and this was a blast!! It was so much fun, everyone in masks with glitter and fru fru feathers. I bought one at Axxezz for about RM33. Not too bad till i found out you could get even nicer ones for the same price at Great Eastern Mall… dang it!!!! Then when I got to the party, there were beautiful masks all over the place. Way nicer than mine! So it didn’t hurt to go around each table and pick one to take pictures… Hehehe  going to a masquerade party reminds me of two things. Gossip Girls – The Handmaiden’s Tale, when they had a lavish masquerade ball.

Ahhh…. that brings back memories…

Yes… as a chef.. or a student chef.. my sister was absolutely horrified to see good carrots gone to waste by the magician. He was trying to show that it is sharp and the blade he was fiddling with is real. As any birthday party, there “has” to be some lame magician show. Now, see, I have a little brother who is really into doing magic tricks. Least he was at one point. So when I start to look at magic shows, I’m either trying my darndest to figure it out or I’ll be saying ok I know how he did it. Lol.

Here we have the birthday lady’s husband, Uncle Rahim, giving a really sweet speech about his wife. About all the times they’ve had together as a couple, why 50 is such a significant time, the obstacles she has faced. The birth of her wonderful children and not forgetting the people whom she’ve met. And whom enjoy her company and visa versa. ^_^

The lovely family. The gorgeous lady of 50 is standing there in gold. This is the whole family together with the masquerade cake. The cake was delicious just that the icing was kinda hard. But the texture of the chocolate cake inside…. muak… magnifique.

This white mask is probably my favourite out of all the masks we had just simply grabbed from each table.

They also just had to… and i mean had to put on some songs that were popular back in the 80s.. or 70s.. Memorable songs like YMCA, Saturday Night Fever, Tell Me More by Grease, I Will Survive and the must must for every party. The Macarena, lol, which my sister quickly jumped right in. lol.. aww so cute.

See told you the masks were really nice and they were so much fun!!! I’m going to have a masquerade party too one day. A real must!

The girl in the middle is Syaz and she’s probably on her way back to Wales now at this point.

You Hold, I Hold, We See

Ok this topic came to my mind quite a while back. Of late, I’ve been noticing a little something in our Asian behaviour. I’m going to give a bunch of scenarios. You know how when you see :

  • the guy holding the girl from the back,
  • the girl leaning on a guys shoulders,

Now tell me what do you think is the possibility of those scenarios? The two people you see are obviously a couple? They are two people who are starting out on They are the best of friends who happen to be extremely touchie? To me, those are all endearing touches of affection which is usually meant for a couple. So i pick choice number one. Naturally too, but what I find intriguing about this is that, even though one would think this is meant for a couple, yet there is the possibility that some of those actions are between close friends. I don’t know maybe it’s just me our part of asian culture, where we are taught not to touch one another or something. Everytime we see the above scenarios though, we will tease our friends that they are into one another, that they are girly wurly and boyfriendy wendy. On a troubling note, it may also cause couples who are already in a relationship to see their partner having that with another person, just have a hard time. But it’s interesting, cause I mean if you look at western films, the friends are so comfortable with one another that they are all cool to the holding hands, grabbing one another and leaning one’s head on their shoulders. Basically doing stuff you only thought to be with the person you are having a ‘couple relationship’ with. So you people tell me is it actually ok, to show those kind of affections that can be misleading?

Cliques

You know in school, when you were in kindergarten everybody was friends. Wasn’t that nice? People didn’t care what family you were from, how you behaved, or whatever. Kids just wanted to be friends and play with one another. Then you hit Primary school and oh my, things change, you find that friends start to disperse and they suddenly huddle to one group. They want to either be called the happening / popular / exciting group or there will be the shunned ones / outcasts / the freaks. Of course you’ll have those right down smack in the middle who really can’t be bothered at all and they shall be called the neutrals neither overly popular nor unwanted in groups. The curse of Cliques.

Cliques

Not to be mistaken with Cliniques ^_P You know it really doesn’t matter what age or generation you are in. Cliques always seem to exist. You’d think that once you are out of school the whole ridiculous thing of group cliques would end and you can go back to being like how it was in kindergarten, where everyone is on the same plane, they are all just trying to get by and having some fun time. But no! Instead you find yourself with more cliques all over the place. Some cliques that will tend to talk to much, the cliques that you find are just not your cup of tea, the cliques that are too ladeeda in the clouds for you, the cliques that are overly intelligent, the cliques that just plain well weird, the cliques that are maybe fun to be with, the cliques that make sense and the cliques that are finally just like you. :aya: So many cliques, and so hard to fit yourself in all. But really I find cliques so dumb and childish. Whats wrong with everyone just getting along, and being friendly. Sure you don’t have to gel, talk and give everyone your attention cause that won’t be feasibly possible. But suddenly changing your whole personality when you are out of your clique… Oouuuooch. Yeah I’m anti-conflict and anti-clique. I don’t care what group one considers themselves in. Cliques …bleh
