Monday… monday… sighhhh

I hate Mondays!!! They are like the beginning of all sorts of bad things. Yes yes I’m trying to keep my chin up.

Lets start of first, which was I didn’t feel very productive today. Then on top of that I didn’t manage to go to gym in the morning so blllehhhh, was feeling all sluggish. Had a meeting up in Damansara Uptown which was suppose to be at 1.30pm or so I thought according to the agenda. Then found out we don’t have to be there till 2.40pm. Which meant i coulddo gym during lunch hour.

Unfortunately decided to finish off some work instead. Then finally when it was nearly time to go, thought there wouldn’t be a jam so left around 2.20, which should be alright. Turns out there was jam just in front of the office argh! So rushed like some speed demon, weaving in and out here there everywhere. Got honked at. Finally made it to the destination and guess what as I enter the carpark, got some ding dong sloooooow of the slooowwwww driver in front of me. Every turn he took, he took his time. Hellooooo I’m rushing!! As I rush to the basement 3 of the parking and into one bay, the guy also turns into the same bay. Well the bay in front me anyway. So it looked like we were going to the ‘chicken’ with a distance of 100cm.

Oh yeah, my colleagues who left earlier arrived same time as me…. not bad. So rushed on up the elevator and into the 15th floor, cause thats where i was told to go. But there were two glass doors!! Which one!!! SO i just picked and asked someone and she pointed me to this conference room. I thought the meeting was already running and my colleagues were in so. The two big sliding doors, stood in front of me and I slid one open.

Starred at the room and tried to look for my colleagues pixie haircut, as everyone else starred at me too… Nope nada.. Sorry… wrong room. Closed it and then went to the other glass door. Finally got to the right place and in the end.. the wrong room i went to was where i was suppose to go. Needless to say, Malaysian time affects and INFECTS everyone, to be late.

So the meeting dragged for 3-4 hours. Sigh ok. Fine.

Then on the way back. pondered. considered. Should I go home? Go to gym at Raintree? Go to gym at the Curve?

Had a mine to not…then as I saw all the cars on the road… oh what the heck. It’ll be the jam anyways. So turned into the curve.

As I got into the carpark though – Prasie The Lord! I found parking immediately at the door. While walking up said to myself to focus and just go gym don’t look at anything. Needless again to say. The first store as I came up from the escalator was…Nikewomen….Oh I lost it.

Then finally after much starring.. I went to look for Fitness First. Great when I got in, it was packed. Went to the locker to change and waddyaa know…. No Top!!!! Arghhhhh! Had the pants and shoes… but no top!! What to do? Went out to Nike women and got something. Figured, I’m going to charge it anyway, might as well regret later. ohhh i regret and not regret at the same time.

Found a top of my size, M… everything was S! What the hell!! I could fit the S but wow did it feel like I was in a corset. SO ok, found the top and found an interesting jacket cause no way was i walking out with no top and just the training top. And got a relay nice jacket now. SO feminine and sporty hehe. Thennnnnnnn.. couldn’t pay by card.. only cash!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Why me… so ok good thing i had pressed some cash at the ATM, had enough to pay for the top, least i got 10% off cause of Fitness First. That done ran to Nike to look for the jacket… Done!

Then went to the gym. I was dropping and being such a clutz in the changing room. Sigh. Headed to the wave machine and guess what. Because of the number of people who are so inconsiderate there. The blasted handles were all STICKY!!!!EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW and Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! What is the matter with people and hygiene. It was soo disgusting but just went with it anyway. I wanted my workout!!!!!!!

Didn’t seem to have enough energy. Only burnt like 210 calories and then went to do shoulders. The weights were so pathetic. Everything was HEAVY. With only ONE pair of 5 pounds and 2 pairs of 15 pounds. Sheeeeshh.

FINALLY my day ended when i got home. I crashed….

And theeeennnn…. today started.. Hahaha… Had a much better workout. Yay! 250 calories in 17 mins and another measly 62 in what 7 mins? I couldn’t be bothered with that. But the weights was great, think i killed my butt and my tri. Ah well…

BTW i confess.. i confess I’m compelte NIKE Addict. I’m totally in love with the brand. Damn Wieden and Kennedy.

So far the whole week till today I’ve only gone once to the gym. Heck you know what I think I’m gonna pow it out with the Bodycombat video that I managed to download. Please don’t hate me for it. It was there, I don’t know how it got there, but i got ti and I’m going to make full use of it. Come now at least I get to do bodycombat in the comfort of my home. Yeah I think I’ll do just that. Give me another 10 mins, wanna blog a bit more.

…….. I’ll be fair, those who want the bodycombat video. Do tell me. I won’t put it here, anycase the file is too big. But I can leave you with a demo

I tried a few applications on Facebook, that is suppose to monitor my workout schedule but unfortunately they weren’t working so well. One was the Training application and another was the ‘My Die’ application. While convenient, since I’m on facebook most of the time. It wasn’t very conducive since, it couldn’t really monitor my progress very well. So instead i’m trying this new web service called Gyminee.

Gyminee allows you to motivate and keep track of your fitness level. Like so in what they call the Locker Room. Hahaha so suitable.

I just signed up on it yesterday so going to give it a proper try. The good thing that i like about this site, is the fact that not only does is already have set workouts you can choose you can also personalise them. And on top of that, for each workout there are videos along with description to show you how to do the movement.

As such. You get to add in your own exercises too. How cool. To my workout enthusiasts readers and friends. Do check it out.

[flv width="400" height="300"]http://www.gyminee.com/videos/standing%20bb%20curl.dv.flv[/flv]

Did i mention you can also create support groups to motivate you or your friends. They also have a gyming community you can link up with. So it is not just about working out, it’s the next level. You are bringing virtual friends in to motivate you too. Pretty cool.

I’m going to have fun with this lil’ baby.

Well I’m taking back the gym routine again, which is great and a lot of fun. So yesterday I made a drop at GNC to buy some supplements, since I’m lacking in protein for repairing the muscles I tore. Also I decided to drop hydroxycut (The slimming pill from GNC) since I felt that iw as not only not getting the results stated but because it was just giving me some negative effects. Like spinning head, slight dizziness, so figure it’s best to stop taking the pills.

SO instead I spent around a good RM200plus on protein powder called Syntha-6, chocolate flavour and on anti-fatigue caplets by muscle tech. The protein powder is meant mostly for after workout to repair your so torn muscles. Taste is pretty good, especially when mixed with a good milo. Don’t mix with milk, I think you’ll have a an over dose of sweetness. I took to cups of cold milo with a good spoonful of it. By the way the spoon, if you get Syntha-6, it is stupidly buried in the middle of the bottle. I hadn’t realised until after i was pouring it out into a different container.

Here’s my new protein shake, I love the bottle. I’m going to turn it into a lamp when I’m through with it.

Originally I wanted creatine, since I want to go back to doing the explosive workouts, like plyometrics to give me the extra push. But after much persuasion, I went for Gakic, the anti-fatigue caplets. It’s a heck of a price at RM538 for 128 caplets. The dosage for men in US is round 8 caplets (my gosh!!!!) per day and only while exercising.

Males: my friend whom I’m sharing it with, started off with two caplets.
Females: the lady at the store recommended to start it off with just half a caplet per session and then work your way to slowly to 1. I took 1 on the first day, just to give an extra kick.

So results? Well cardio wise, there was not much kick, however during the weight training period. We seemed to have quite a fair bit too keep pushing. In all fairness, if we hadn’t gone for an hour on cardio alone I think the muscles could have still been able to push more iron, or more reps in my case. I wanna be lean not mean. Hehehe.

SO that was day one, but lets see what happens with the rest of the month with Gakic.

Well as far gyming goes, I need inspiration and also motivation in order to be able to keep up with the discipline of being consistent with gym. As that is my only source of releasing stress for now.

SO just thought I’d share a few of the testimonies that saw atmy health club, Fitness First (giving them free marketing, even though they don’t need it). Actually I took this yesterday, after the morning workout session.

I’ll be honest, I am very outdated and I did not know Dawn Young (if you click here pls, be warned that you are going to face some annoying had done plastic surgery on her face even though that is like super old old of the old news. Yes goes to show I was not a big blogger person than in the year 2002. I knew there was something almost not natural about her looks.

Her supposedly before surgery

Her after a good amount of surgery all over. (Uncertain if true or not)

Images are from Kennysia’s blog, so all courtesy to him.

In all fairness, cosmetic surgery has its appeal to some, but I don’t believe that you should entirely change your outer appearance. Sure some would feel a lot more confident and I’m not knocking the fact that know she is one of the most talked about bloggers in the blogsphere. In fact she has risen herself to fame.

Her eyes, are almost manga like for crying outloud!

Would you girls actually succumb yourselves to plastic surgery? Ranging from boob jobs to hair removal. Well maybe hair removal is not so bad. Ten what about boob surgery? Its already bad enough that the media, hollywood have already cause beauty to be so linear as to what is the ideal look of beauty. Yes the world need another stick thin girl who is going to be the face of slimming places like MarieFrance and Unisense. They are businesses for crying out loud and just like cosmetic surgery they harm the body by shocking the body to reduce in a not natural way, even if the effects are effective.

I’d rather go for exercise and controlling one’s diet anyday! It can be done! And there are testimonies. Go look at fitness first or even the health magazines or even better still – Body For Life book.

I had marinated and cooked the chicken two nights back and froze them. Now taking them out to make as a sandwich along with fresh tomatoes and a slice of cheese.

I packed myself lunch and dinner for tomorrow. But trying to find a convenient and conducive way of packing them without have to carry a tupperware. First one i tried was the baking paper, but as much as that would serve the purpose, it needs to be joined so it doesn’t fall apart. So hence next time (learning from mistake here), I’m just going to use aluminum foil. (I’m not sure whether it’s eco-friendly but gonna check that out now.

Then I saw this top, which had once been RM269 and was now RM159 (still painful!!!!), but I want and need it (or do i? hmm)

Well I should really cap myself so that I don’t go spending anymore. Just after spending a fair bit on my Sony Player, I went out and bought this top. It was a complete impulse, but I have been having my eye on it for some time now.

Can’t wait to go exercising with it! However I feel like I’m wearing a darn corset. And currently sad to say right now, i’m bursting out of it a tad bit, so lets see what happens in a coupla’ weeks. I’m gonna work my butt off to fit in it nicely. But i’m going to wear it till that point.

You know for some of you out there, after you’ve done a good weight exercise, and you want to remove a top, it gets kinda hard because your arms are hurting like mad. In the words of Andy Amir “you get stuck”, lol. Isn’t it Lynn? ^_~ So yeah I figure to save me the hassle of removing allt he tight fitting tops after a good workout, might as well get a zipper one.

I finally got to watch 300….

I am lost for words. It is the most ‘gaya’ movie possible. From every angle I swear that all the characters were holding poses as they spoke their lines with vigor and passion. Anyway this posting I wanna just clear the air on the whole abs discussion between me and ‘some’ people. So it’s not going to be about me reviewing the movie.

First off, lets talk about the 6 weeks of vigorous training that the cast of 300 had to go through in porder to get the fantastic ripling pectorals and abs that they HAD to show in order to make the movie look believable that they are Spartans. Below is a video showing the 300 men had to go through in order to get the body were suppose to portray. The training was done by Gym Jones, or more so the trainer is Mark Twight. And if you noticed, it is none of the typical gym routine that you see where men have to look at themselves after pumping a bit of iron. Oh no no, They went through hardcore variations of training everyday so that their muscles would learn how to to cope if say they were actual Spartans.

Spartan workout and also Journal #3

If you want to try it out, do it like so.

Start in the low numbers and work within your own fitness levels. The 300 exercise is not, I repeat NOT, for the beginners and faint hearted.
It goes like this:
Without resting between exercises,

Perform 25 pullups,

50 deadlifts with 135 pounds,

50 pushups,

50 jumps on a 24-inch box,

50 floor wipers,

50 single-arm clean-and-presses using a 36-pound kettle bell,

25 more pullups.

Ouch!!!!!!

These should be done in succession without rest. All this must be done in addition to utilizing other unconventional yet equally taxing training methods, such as tire flipping and gymnastics-style ring training. Seasoned gym rats can’t claim immediate facility to the 300 workout. It takes a different kind of guts to master push ups laterally using your shoulders as balancing all your upper weight in the air, with the lower half of the body supported on a bench.

Twight’s gym routines include running, bungee jumps toward a retreating kettle bell, and pull-ups until failure. Beginners should start off by doing 100 reps using four to six different exercises, 10 to 25 reps per exercise. Yoga and condioning is needed just to build up the body to the point it can take this kind of abuse. Build up from there until 300 can be done without rest. Swap in cross training sets of complementary exercises such as jumping jacks, dumbbell curls, and Swiss-ball crunches,

“Lie on the floor holding a 135-pound bar straight overhead,” says Twight. “Keeping legs straight, touches the feet to one plate, lower them to the floor in the center, and then raise them up to touch the other plate.” That’s one repetition. Try it yourself, but with an empty bar first, raising your feet until they’re about 8 inches away from the bar (since there’s no weight plate to touch)

The 300 workout is extremely time efficient, since almost all the time is used for max burn. Cape not included.

Next thing I want to talk about. Seriously if you can have people already with the pecs and abs for a hotshot movie like 300, why would they want to make it more difficult and enhance it further via digital imaging. Already as it is 90% of the movie was shot with a blue screen. So why add in more work?

Anyhow enjoy some of the behind the scenes here which you can also find on youtube and on the actual 300 website but I’ll make it easier so you can check it out here ^_^ . Also for those who are motivated..hehe.. to get pumping in the gym check out Men’sHealth on the 300 workout too here.
