So imagine my glee when I saw this huge poster at KLPac, saying that it was to be screened for free! Other than hearing good reviews about it, it’s a documentary that supposedly shows all sides of people who are taking environmentalism seriously.

YTL Climate Change Week

Then just yesterday I saw it in the papers, YTL is having a Climate Change Week to spread the awareness of how our environment is dying and that we should do something to save it. Even if it is small. Right now according to YTL Climate Change Week website Malaysians generated 7.34 million tonnes of solid waste in 2005 alone, enough to fill up 42 buildings the size of Malaysia’s twin towers. That’s ridiculous but true. Have you ever taken a drive along the MRR2 towards Batu Caves, as you pass that area, you will see large hills.. and those are the kind of hills that you would never like to see. Hills of RUBBISH! It’s atrocious! The YTL event, will be reiterating the facts of how global warming is causing us humans to soon burn in cinders if we do not take care of our environment. It also aims to speak with businesses, companies that are probably one of the biggest reasons for wastage and how they can avoid that by being a green company under the topic of WASTEnomics. The younger generation will also get to have a go at learning how to protect the environment during the Youth Workshop held on May 3rd at KLPAC. The free interactive full-day workshop, held at The KL Performing Arts Centre (KLPac), is open to any secondary school in the Klang Valley and features a fun-filled programme for teachers and their students, providing them with the tools to plan and implement sustainable practices in their schools. While I overall like the concept that YTL but I’m not so crazy about their solutions because while some of them are good and easy to relate with which we can use in our every day lives. I would’ve preferred it if they had thought of other solutions that are closer to home. We don’t use a thermostat in Malaysia and you are marketing to Malaysians.
