Before I go into talking about Ismail in the following post. I just want to say a belated Happy Merdeka to everyone. This was the first time… in many many years or even at all for that matter – that i had actually celebrated this ‘joyous’ occasion… yeah I’m such a patriot aren’t I. Anyway.. I don’t usually celebrate Independence Day and I never go out for it. However this year because I was performing in Ismail:The Last Days, some of the cast members and I decided to celebrate it within the grounds of KLPac right after our show. And boy was it a fun time we had. As much as I dislike politics, what I am very grateful for in this country.. are the people I meet. And how despite us all being of different races and religions we can still come together as one, without any discrimination. Even if there were, this group i celebrated it with would probably just laugh in the face of racist mocking jokes. I find there is nothing funnier and more enjoyable than to laugh at the things a race has been stereotyped to be. Thinking Russell Peters here. So how did we celebrate it? Pizza, chicken wings, chips and Ice Lemon Tea with Coke. Big big thank yous goes to the lovely couple Siti Farah and Aiman who were kind enough to order in the food. Along with mountains of laughs.

We were all doing our own thing and snapping shots of course – that was when we heard the sounds of fireworks. Trying to get a look at the fireworks, Tony and Aiman went scouting by standing on the footstool sized stones.

And that’s how it started with all of us wanting to do weird stuff. They found a strong sturdy trunk not long after and started ummm jumping while holding it.

Failure one..

Siti... quakkkkk!!

They nearly didbut despite even siti covering for Tony… tak jadi (didn’t happen) lol. Idzam was standing there and couldn’t take it. so he showed us how it should be done.

and even higher now!!

Like that… now thats what you call team work :P

Then Min Li and Siti wanted to try… and this is what they got.. Mary Poppins hahaha

Then Me and Min Li decided to give ago at the flying trapeze

Take one.

Take Two.

And the final one, which is my absolute favourite favourite pic of the year I’d think.. is this super Streetfighter looking one hahah

Siti decided to join in on this one too hehhe.. We were trying emphasis on the trying of the Matrix Trinity pose.

So that was how Mereka was celebrated! Happy Merdeka again peeps.

Not too long ago I received an email from my blogging community friends, DGMB and he had shared with us an email that reminded us of what our childhood memories were like. We are all from different schools, different group of friends but one thing remained consistent that they were just certain things in life that was ‘of our time’. It brought back some of the great memories we had growing up. I’ll just share some of the fond objects that made up my childhood. Lets start from the days of standard one. I remember when there were all these ridiculous looking fruit rubbers which were so cute to have but were entirely useless in terms of usability. I mean they were really adorable but they couldn’t rub your pencil markings off at all. In fact they just

Then there was the other type of rubbers which i shall just name as the- flags-of- the-world rubbers. These weren’t too bad to use and what was fun was how as kids we made use of them to play the rubber sparring game. Where you tip over one end of the rubber watch it tumble and see if it can land on another opponents rubber. That was fun hahah to play that in the middle of breaks or when there wasn’t a teacher around. I remember the boys in my class would cut up their rubbers and make them into little tiny particles…. till this day i still have no idea why they did it.

At home, some of us had this little toy called  Western Bar. Hahaha i remember i had this and you were suppose to kill of the bandit that walked into the bar. I never really won… so sad.

In those days, there were all sorts of candy. The one at the bottom wasn’t my favourite but they had a interesting ads. lol I remember when i would watch TV, their ads would pop up in between shows and they’ll trying coaxing you to buy the sweets, because there was a toy inside the candy box. Surprise!!

Ahh the Old Maid, Donkey and Happy Family. Card games of the old days… I don’t really remember  how to play them, and I don’t think I’ve seen them in stores anymore. But i could be mistaken. Old Maid i think had to with something like where you keep shifting cards with your friends and whoever got the old maid last in their hand lost… Ok i won’t try remembering what donkey and happy family were like cause I’ll probably mess up the rules of the game. lol

It was a nice trip back down memory lane. :)

Syazy my dear friend who is now trying her hardest to work in Wales was back for the weekend, to celebrate her mom’s 50th birthday (which was actually a week ago). I knew parents could have fun, but this was really a treat to see people not around my age but still able to enjoy having a blast and just hanging with company that they all like. The party was held at Rick’s Cafe Casablance located in Onebangsar. I once again thank God for such a thing called Google Maps. The earlier part of the day had me running around The Curve to find a mask for the masquerade party… Yes you heard me MASQUERADE PARTY! Gosh i didn’t think i’d go to on ever in my life and this was a blast!! It was so much fun, everyone in masks with glitter and fru fru feathers. I bought one at Axxezz for about RM33. Not too bad till i found out you could get even nicer ones for the same price at Great Eastern Mall… dang it!!!! Then when I got to the party, there were beautiful masks all over the place. Way nicer than mine! So it didn’t hurt to go around each table and pick one to take pictures… Hehehe  going to a masquerade party reminds me of two things. Gossip Girls – The Handmaiden’s Tale, when they had a lavish masquerade ball.

and The Phantom of The Opera – Masquerade. Let’s sing a song :)

CHORUS Masquerade! Paper faces on parade . . . Masquerade! Hide your face, so the world will never find you!

Ahhh…. that brings back memories…

Yes… as a chef.. or a student chef.. my sister was absolutely horrified to see good carrots gone to waste by the magician. He was trying to show that it is sharp and the blade he was fiddling with is real. As any birthday party, there “has” to be some lame magician show. Now, see, I have a little brother who is really into doing magic tricks. Least he was at one point. So when I start to look at magic shows, I’m either trying my darndest to figure it out or I’ll be saying ok I know how he did it. Lol.

Here we have the birthday lady’s husband, Uncle Rahim, giving a really sweet speech about his wife. About all the times they’ve had together as a couple, why 50 is such a significant time, the obstacles she has faced. The birth of her wonderful children and not forgetting the people whom she’ve met. And whom enjoy her company and visa versa. ^_^

The lovely family. The gorgeous lady of 50 is standing there in gold. This is the whole family together with the masquerade cake. The cake was delicious just that the icing was kinda hard. But the texture of the chocolate cake inside…. muak… magnifique.

This white mask is probably my favourite out of all the masks we had just simply grabbed from each table.

They also just had to… and i mean had to put on some songs that were popular back in the 80s.. or 70s.. Memorable songs like YMCA, Saturday Night Fever, Tell Me More by Grease, I Will Survive and the must must for every party. The Macarena, lol, which my sister quickly jumped right in. lol.. aww so cute.

See told you the masks were really nice and they were so much fun!!! I’m going to have a masquerade party too one day. A real must!

The girl in the middle is Syaz and she’s probably on her way back to Wales now at this point.
I have been going through my school times and you know what… I just started smiling to myself.. heeheh. I had some fun times in SSU. Granted it’s not the BEST school in the world, but it was enough. :) As you grow up and then you look back at yourself. It really does make you want to laugh. I mean in school as a young teen, I really felt like such a teeny bopper to some extent hahaha. Liking the likes of actors such as Devon Sawa and the recent Backstreet Boys concert down in KL, reminded me how much we were all gaga over them then…. and at the same time we poked fun about their lifestyles as well. We used a number of their songs in school plays.. and ooo i found this picture on Facebook which really made me smile :)

Mowgli’s Fantasia Can you guess which is me? And I remember as a teen, I admit to being a rather spoilt brat and a bit of ‘mean girl’ at times (even though if you ask me I don’t know why). To some extent I’ll say it was the whole thing of being pretentious from too much TV where you have the popular group and the outcasts. It sounds so terribly silly now. At one point I considered myself in the popular group till an unfortunate mishap happened, which i shall not get into the details. Which then made me start to think … what’s the point of bothering who is in the happening group or not? If anything it’s because of these ridiculous notions that you are ‘great’ that’s why you have kids getting depressed, insecure, unsure of themselves.. Also looking back, you see all the ridiculous stuff you did, like being childish and trying to get attention. Or worse when you consider the possibilities of ‘crushes’. hahaha I remember i had a crush on a couple of friends in my days.. i’m not telling who! But oh gosh the dreaded crushes.. eeek… Really really I want to laugh at all that now. In fact it reminds me so much of the Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion.

Romy and Michelle High School Reunion

Two misfits in school that go back to their high school reunion, to find that everyone is successful and where are they? Lol.. All the way down to maybe the failures and happy times in life. I miss the good ol’ days when basketball was a weekly thing. My first boyfriend came from there and I always imagined that I’d have a cute (ok at least presentable) guy by me side and who would love to play b-ball with me as much as i’d love playing it… Ohhh the joy of the game. When i met Mister G.. i really wondered whether I had as much as he did in his school days and uni days. To some extent maybe not as much. But I still enjoyed them no less. My life is fairly boring hahah. But the people around me are the ones that give me the stories to tell :)
I don’t know why but this will be second post on J.Co Donuts. This is how it starts, mom doesn’t like us eating those donuts. So sometimes me and my sister Nessa will sneak and curi curi eat them. We managed to sneak two away today. One tiramisu and another strawberry donut. And this is what happened when we ate them… only showing the strawberry one. pgtrip-127-copy.jpg My sister took one bite…. pgtrip-129-copy.jpg and she wanted more…. but unfortunately because we were both drooling so badly….or more so surprisingly “I” was drooling alot. In the end, she got put off a bit by… this… pgtrip-133-copy.jpg See that splotch…???? Sad to say that was umm….. a salivating person that didn’t know she was salivating. It feel somewhere where it did not need to fall. What can I say? Which I decided was better if I make a silly face on it.. pgtrip-137-copy.jpg Yeah she still wasn’t very happy about it… even though I fed her the rest of the donut…. pgtrip-144-copy.jpg So I passed it to someone else who might be more appreciative of the strawberry donut. pgtrip-155-copy.jpg Hahaha that was just some cream I gave to Benji… He sneakily came by while I was sitting on the floor and started licking my hand while I was using the other to snap pictures… sheeesh. Nessa was still happy though. Since I gave her the last bit of the donut…. pgtrip-159-copy.jpg All this for a donut. Hahahaha
