Today was I having a rerun of some movies I got stored on my hard disk. And it just so happens that most of the movies i have are comedies with Adam Sandler starring in them. Which got me watching his movie ‘Click’ again.  Adam Sandler is best known as the movie comedian. Hard to actually take most of his films seriously since they are always shown in a lighthearted manner. However i think that is the best thing about the stuff he’s done so far. Like ‘Click‘ and ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan‘, both touched on certain topics that left poignant thoughts in your head.  What I just adored about ‘Click’, was despite all the goofy moments, words and actions. In the end there was a stronger message that Adam was hoping to share with it. Which was family comes first before your work or career. I think every one can relate to that problem. Do you pick your career or do you pick quality times with your family? Even more so when you don’t just have one family but you also have the family of a partner. Just too many things to consider – on that note anyway. How often do we just go through life not really enjoying it with your loved ones. Just watching it pass by because we are rushing to get to some bigshot promotion or whatever it is that one aims for. It’s a good thing for one to just sit back, take a breather and spend time with the things that matter.

‘Click’ touched me, like no comedy movie has done. And even though I’ve seen it easily 4-5 times now. It still makes me tear at the part where Adam’s character, Michael Newman, finds out that his father had passed away so he goes to the last moment he saw his dad. The last time he saw his dad it ended on a bad note because he was on ‘autopilot’ causing him to only be bothered about his work. That was also the last time he heard his father say he loved him.  Another part of the movie that got me tearing again, was the very ending when he was trying to catch up with his grown up son who was about to leave the hospital. The shot and set up was fantastic. With him running in the rain to get to his son, Ben and when he ends up tripping over his feet. He has to squeeze every once of his energy to scream for Ben. Ben suddenly drops the umbrella and runs to Michael. That cracked and moved me.  I feel this is his best work in terms of acting anyway. Sure may not be that different, but i just love movies that make you think about life. Topics that touch right here at the heart. It’s movies like – in my opinion – that stays close to home and makes a difference in lives. Click is a great for a laugh and also for some good loving thoughts on family.
If some may remmeber I did a post just a few days ago on my. I have something to confess.. it didn’t really go as planned. Starting late was not the problem. Problem with the viewing of each movie was the concentration. The first movie, Indiana Jones: Raiders of The lost Ark…ok we were watching it and our attention was there. The second movie, attention was still there, but then it started to wane of a bit. So by the time Indy managed to get out of the Temple of Doom, we were just kinda talking to one another. Come the final movie, Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade… there was no concentration whatsoever towards the movie. lol. At best we were trying to catch up here and there, but we needed it mostly so that we could have background music while we talked with one another. But overall it was still a fun night… and no disrespect meant to the people of the movie, but we just weren’t in the mood at that point.  Some great memories came out of the screening though.

Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull

Now on to my thoughts on Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was a nice laugh. However that’s all, honestly. They had a lot of crazy jokes and sections that were pretty lame in the movie. The script was not entirely fantastic because it was kinda lame too, with cliche words. THe other thing which I just don’t get about some of the latest movies, is how incredibly over the top they are. As in they are completely ‘unbelievable’  – not in the good sense here. Unbelievable how? Eg. Indy (Harrison Ford) was shot with machine and handguns while he was running through wooden beams that had gaps the length of half a meter give it. And he wasn’t hit even once? The he and a bunch of other people were riding in some submarine boat .. going over three waterfalls… THREE!! Not only for the first two did they survive, but the they were all still in the boat when they went over the waterfall… not possible! It was only till the third waterfall that they all finally got thrown off the boat. Did i mention that the waterfalls had rocks at the bottom? Shia LaBeouf was hunky, charming and all James Dean like as his character Mutt. Which was pretty cute and what I said before about not liking the lady in the first indy movie. I take it back. I think Karen Allen has aged really gracefully and I liked her in this movie. But I think the couple banters were soooo…. funnily lame. The movie have been bout Indy and his son, but the person who I think stole most of the show was Cate Blanchett. She played a marvelous character as the Russian military-want-to know-all lady. The accent and her features made it even more believable for her as a Russian. Overall I give it s 6/10. Sorry…Just my thoughts though.
This post is way outdated, but it was planned to be that way. A whole bunch of us bloggers had met up yesterday to watch the movie “Definitely, Maybe” starring Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fisher, Rachel Weisz, Kevin Kline and Abigail Breslin. It’s a romance comedy with Ryan acting as the dad of Maya played by Abigail who is intent on learning how her parents came to be when she learned about sex education at school one day. Her dad takes her on a long ride to tell her, that love is not so easy, but terribly complicated as we see. A very touching and moving story, especially on the part of the Abigail (who made me cry!) Love is really complicated and while I wished on one hand that it was as simple as Abigail or any fairytale would be told.. it’s not.. Anyway that’s another story :) You can read on how the movie thing came about here. We all met at Cinemaleisure at around 12 plus. Some came early some came late and so since my point of contact was dahling Pammie. and she wasn’t there yet, so I took a walk around the Curve’s Bazaar. I saw the cutest little T-shirts, you know the one with statements on them and this is going to be a new hobby. Hope to find more of these around. After Pam and I had a good time soaking in the sun and burning our pockets with Tees, we headed on yo Cineleisure to meet up with the group at McDonald’s for lunch and boy were we hungry. But i have to say the McD’s downstairs is ridiculously small! That was until I found out they had another spot upstairs.. And thus begins the tale of the “Definitely, Maybe – Blogger Date” ^_^ These are the people who managed to turn up for the outing, in alphabetical order ^_^

Definitely Maybe Blog Poster

I had a real great time guys.. now look out for part two of Blog Dates!! :)
I am seriously so proud to say that my friend did this video. Her cinematography is really something to look forward to and brings in a different flavour to our local film scene. I am promoting it even more so because a number of the casts are friends of mine and I’m also in it. Albeit very very small. It was fun doing the shoot which you can . The main cast are Alfred Loh, Adrian Lai and Sean Yap whom I want to thank again for being so supportive to the platform performance last night. Adrian I’m so jealous of you, you always look good bleh ^_P hehehe. Other friends in the cast are Min Li, Sani, Grace (who is confirmed on Broadway Parodies Again Lah – congrats girl!!!), Victor and Kid. Forgive me if I get anything wrong… :aya: Anyways, don’t let me bore you have a look at the Emperor Trailer directed and written by Juliane Block.
