Yesterday i was walking around in the mall, i decided to pop into a Nike store. As usual they would have really cool ads running on their tv screen. I personally enjoyed watching the ad “V is for Victory” , the powder ad. Sure this was released sometime back in Jan, but I still think it’s worth mentioning. Below is the video of the actual ad campaign followed by the behind the scenes and making of the video.

As much as it’s called www.footballshirtculture.com but Nike had other favourite sportsmen wearing the V on their chests.

The first photoshoot session has Nike’s favourite ambassadors Sergio Ramos, Cesc Fabregas, Didier Drogba, Joe Cole, and Andrei Arshavin wearing the new line of Nike Chevron Eugene jackets.

I love the effect you get from the powder and them placing the footballers in a dark room with a slow shutter speed. I would like to try it one day hehe. Here are some still shots of how the photoshoot was done with powder being thrown on to their hard core bods :)

Lets not get any of that into their noses now.

The next you have them just in their boxers or shorts, with an emblazed V on their bare skin.

Out of all the shots.. and as much as i DISLIKE Drogba – even if he is a fantastic football player – I have to admit that i do like his photo. It’s very umm.. manly? For lack of a better word. Images take from Dazeddigital.

On another note if you want to check out their interviews for the Nike V is for victory, read it here :)

couple of years back, I saw this really cool ad in a magazine from one of my top favourite sports brand. It was an image of huge huge butt, with splatters and splotches of paint on a white background. On to the right side of the butt there were words. Words that were hilarious and inspiring to a certain extent. Ending with a wonderful line that i fine so relatable…. Just Do It! Yeah I’m taking about the Nike Real Women Ads done by Weiden and Kennedy advertising agency. According to what I heard from my planner boss then at McCann, while the ad concept which was to represent ordinary women – very much like Dove ads for real beauty. It was not to Nike’s best interest. A shame really and the campaign “Real Women” went downhill.  Even still… I still love their print ads which are now sitting as my wallpaper :) So let me share the rest of the wallpapers.

I love this particular one. All the muscle and power behind a nice round butt… :)

I also feel quite close to this one cayse my shoulders are naturally broad. So broad to the point that sometimes people ask me am a swimmer cause of the V that my back shows. It’s not a perfect V but I get it enough. To the point where i finally decided ok I might as well try swimming… didn’t last very long. Kinda bored me after a while.

Hooo don’t let me get started on the thunder thighs. I am proud that my legs and thighs are strong.. However sometimes I blame my mom for my less than perfect curvacious calves – that are no where close to skinny.

There are fans. Crazy fans, ridiculous fans, obsessive fans and enthusiastic fans. There are also fans that are under that umbrella, meaning all of the above. Now when it comes to me I’m the last one.. The one that is “all of the above”. When it comes to Nike!! And you cannot believe how ecstatic I was when I got this email from Nuffnang saying this.

I remember the time when I was just getting into picking sides between Nuffnang and other ad services. Nuffnang had my full attention for a good minute or so because I saw this beautiful symbol sitting on their front page.

Yeah the Nike Logo… that got me hook and since then I have been waiting for Nike to pick my blog to advertise on. Yeah sure this ad can be on tons of many other blogs but ooooh I’m just so happy that it is now resting at the top of my header. And it matches my theme too hehhee. I’ve been a loyal brand member of Nike since.. oh gosh… I can’t remember, but it was definitely after the Reebok and LA Gear phase. Nike suddenly just became so prominent for me, with their fancy products that I still believe in and most of all their philosophy of “JUST DO IT”. Did you know that the Nike logo was bought for about only 15 dollars then when it was first design by some young kid? That’s alllllll!!?? In school I was practically deemed Nike Girl by my classmates. The first time I heard I didn’t quite like it, cause i thought it was some sort of negative teasing (which it can be depending how you look at it). Then later on I decided, heck why not! I love the brand and their stuff at least most of it is fantastic and I look good on them… Heh. Allow me to be terribly narcissistic for a bit and you can dis me on it later :P . But I love Nike! I love love love. If I could I would work for them, and just enjoy being surrounded by Nike products and words… Sigh… Ooo.. Nike..

The website is gorgeous too.. which looks to be my next inspiration hehe. The link when you click on the ad, brings you to the Nike Women website. Which is as always flash based and it shows all the things in life dealing with physical activities that people have turned from a LOVE into their LIFE. It is also so empowering and encouraging to know that women are getting into different sports out there which are not really associated with women before. Take for example breakdancing which is still a very male dominated dance. Man all the stuff they showed on the website looks like so much of fun. Frisbee, Basketball, Kickboxing, Bellydancing, Biking, BMX and -something new for me – Punk Rope. (I’ll talk more on this later, but in short it is a new exercising trend that uses the skipping rope with High intensity music) Oooo and just check out the diary which is at the top part of the page. In order to maneuver in the flash website click and drage this bar which is in the middle section of the page. Anyways back to the diary or fitness log. Doesn’t it look so scrapbook like?
