WEBBY NOMINEES AND HONOREES ANNOUNCED TODAY

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences is pleased to announce the Nominees and Official Honorees for the 12th Annual Webby Awards. Nominees have been selected by The Academy from a record nearly 10,000 entries representing all 50 states and 60 countries worldwide. Webby Winners and Webby People’s Voice Winners — announced on May 6, 2008 — will be chosen from the five Nominees in each category, announced today. Official Honorees, chosen for an outstanding caliber of work, make up fewer than 15% of the total entries. Congratulations to both Nominees and Official Honorees on a truly deserving accomplishment.

The awards also have another section which allows the public to participate and vote for the best website in their opinion. Whoaa. So that means the time to start voting for your favourite website begins as of now! I’m going to go the sites soon…can’t wait to see what new stuff is up this year ^_^ You have to sign up first though in order to vote. You can sign up here.

Today also marks the launch of the Webby People’s Voice Awards. Presented by Nokia, The People’s Voice Awards invite the public to participate in The Webby Awards by allowing them to vote for their favorite nominees. People’s Voice Winners receive special recognition at the end of voting. Anyone can vote online between now and May 1st, so make sure to lobby for your favorites along the way.
