Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011

 What is blogging?

I’ll make it clean and simple, by just saying that it is an activity that allows you to jot down your thoughts and life experiences.  It’s an online platform where you get to exercise freedom of speech ranging from good, sophisticated speech to the downright rude crude words. I did say it was freedom of speech. ^_^

I’ve been in the blogging sphere for a while now and i’ve had the wonderful honour of meeting quite inga lot of people due to blogging. So when i first told that i would be interviewing peers in the blogging world on my show on RedFM, i was really ecstatic.

and this is the first time i’m going to be attending a blog award! A red carpet blog event.. fuyoh!!

Two years ago, the best of the best in the blogosphere were celebrated with the inaugural Asia-Pacific Blog Awards, and now, Nuffnang is honoured to be bringing the regional awards ceremony back, this time to Malaysian shores!

Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers and guests from all over the Asia-Pacific region will once again take to the red carpet, and be treated to a night of fine dining and brilliant entertainment in Kuala Lumpur, the bustling metropolitan capital of Malaysia. Aside from being honoured for their hard work and contribution to the blogosphere, they will also get the opportunity to tour the city and experience the unique Malaysian culture for themselves.

All of this week i had the chance to meet these amazing bloggers and interview them during my show at the 2pm hour on RedFM

I’ve stumbled across his blog a couple of times in the past and met him briefly at blogger events. Was  a real treat to sit down and have a proper chit chat session with him. Wow he’s got such a colourful history. He had a lot of stories to tell me, but sadly i couldn’t put all of them on air. like the time he went to Rehab!

An IT guy by profession, he’s a real hidden gem! His writing style is really funny. i like how he puts little truths in life in a humorous manner on his blog. You’ll get a good laugh from his blog!

i really love her fashion sense and everytime i dye my hair, i would end up thinking about Joyce. lol. She’s like the queen of different hairstyles. Love the silver slip on jacket she had during the interview! Plus she’s cute as a button.. did u see her Carebear costume!?

She’s as cute as a button and i love how free she is with her words on her blog. Funny and with an awesome fashion sense. It’s no wonder she’s nominated as the best Fashion Blogger in Malaysia! im’ rooting for you girl!!

Awww he was so nervous at first and he is the only blogger with two nominations.. again!! Yes he was in the first blogger awards and he’s back again! Here’s hoping you get at least one of the titles this year man! And did you know that he studied and lived in Korea for 7 years.. his Korean is fluent and I had the pleasure of being thought a few conversational words from him. Stay tune for the video hehhee. And you did great for the interview man!

I’m a Sherlock Holmes in the Making

I really enjoy treasure hunts and playing the game cluedo. Granted I’m no genius in finding out who is the killer all the time.. or maybe most of the time… but i have fun playing these two games a lot. And ever since I saw the trailer of the new Robert Downey Jr movie “Sherlock Holmes”. I really couldn’t help myself from getting all excited about the movie. Robert Downey Jr – whom some of you may remember as the all new version of Iron Man – is a brilliant actor. I’ve always been very entertained by all the characters he’s played.. thriller comedies… whatever he’s good at all of them. Just watch this trailer and then “try” to tell me that it’s not going to be interesting.
So when someone tells me I have the chance to get free movie tickets for this film. I’m going to jump at it. Because Mr Downey… is hot, brilliant and funny…. and HOT! Allow me to be a bimbette for a while. :P Nuffnang is giving away two tickets and all i need to do is just find the two “hidden” images of the Sherlock Holmes poster on the sidebar of two blogs. LG Angels and Devils

**Disclaimer: Heh.. I just realised that it rings almost like the movie that is currently screening ‘Angels and Demons’. We all have a bit of both in us, and what better way than to show it off visually with some outfits! The following is completely a fictional story based on the live event"**

I would like to tell a story. It all began in the days when technology was ever growing. Humans had created more and more machinery that it was even known to the world of the unknown… They then created the most powerful piece of machinery.

The LG Arena. ‘

And it was because of this that both Angels and Devils started the end of days early. To fight for the ultimate means of communication. The battle between the two had begun. And it started on the eve of Friday at the realm of Menara Hap Seng.

The skies were filled with white and red. .

What looked to red ribbons… which honestly I’m not sure could’ve been strips of dried up blood hung from the chandeliers.

And it was here at the battle the news of the LG Blog was released to the world. The human leader Mr TY Ko, Managing Director and CEO of LG Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. brought the news to all. Nuffnang the secret underground community was there to help spread the news.

Where everyone gather to hear the news and to also find out who will walk away with other special devices… it really felt like an ‘arena’. An arena of angels and devils.

Spurring the crowd were four hosts. Serena C, Pamela Chong, Mei Yan and Will Kuah. Humans mind you. By they were called specially for the event.

Experiencing the event of the battle was way better live. Me and my fellow confused devil friend, Min Li (ok actually we were humans trying to be devils and infiltrate the event) – went for the event and looked around in awe.

See no horns, no pitch forks and no tail. We were very under dressed devils.

In awe for that was when the battle started. It was the weirdest battle too. For the angels and devils were requested to boogey….

We had Confused angel Thomas Yap dancing with the elegant and graceful angel Kim Ong.

On the other side we had Confused devil Shrek Simon dancing and shaking his kabuki too.

Angel Thomas won that round.

Then the second battle started. The most beautiful angels and .. horrendous devils were requested to step out onto the podiums. They were to walk the few steps to see if they were worthy to receive a huge prize from LG.

It was the a battle of the “best dressed!”

The angels walked out. 

 

Then the devils walked out…. to be honest i do not know how Freddy Krueger got into this… :S?

  

The Angel Kim Ong and the fiery sequined devil Red Mummy each won a 32 inch LG TV.

It was after this that the real fights started…

 

Simon Shrek Devil was stabbed…

And shortly after.. i saw humans attacking on another….and no one helped!!!

Angel Robb tried to stop it with his blasting rays of light….

While Red Mummy tried to extinguish everything with her molting shiny flames. Just look at that face. You don’t want to mess with her.

In the end the two actually did manage to stop it all. And to everyone’s surprise Angels and devils started taking pictures with one another. No more fighting! Which made me a happy human! :)

And everyone else shared the happy happy moment too… and some crazy periods…???

I found another human who was parading in a more appropriate devils outfit compared to mine – Pamsong, Confused Angel Thomas and Me :) You’re going to poke someone’s eye out with those horns!

Rise of The Lycans

Blood, swords clashing, doomed romance and two breeds of monsters wage war on one another. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the Underworld 3: Rise of Lycans moving outing. Nuffnang had another movie collaboration event and just check out this post and the wallpaper I did: read it here. Well thanks to Nuffnang I managed to not only get my two movie ticket passes but also two lovely Underworld 3 shot glasses. woot woots:)

There was a reason they told everyone in the email to come early to collect the tickets. If you notice, the seat numbers stated on mine are row M. Note to everyone never buy seats at row M!!! I sat there with Mister G and man was it uncomfortable. If i had gone to collect my tickets earlier I could’ve maybe gotten a better seat… Now i get what Aaron was trying to tell me earlier on picking up the tickets for me…. ah well. Now i know better :P  

Collecting tickets was not just the best part. Free stuff is always great but winning free stuff is even better :) Base on this post, I was very happy to find out while collecting my tickets, that I managed to win two premium shot glasses! How cool. I won 2 Underworld:3 shot glasses. Bring on the Underworld premiums hehe.

Ok it’s nothing that woweee.. but the point is I manage to get them. And hey if anyone ever comes over for tequila I can at least say you want a shot with my Lycans… hehehehee.

Of course I had to take one picture with the poster. If I look pale in that picture above with Viktor it’s probably cause I am pale in it. Before taking this shot, I actually wanted to sit on a chair and do some fierce face like Viktors. When you are next to a vamp you gotta look like one too.. granted I shouldn’t have smiled.

Here’s a before and after shot of me. First one… normal Aronil followed by pale, ruby lipped and blue eyed Aronil. I just had to.. for fun :) I can now talk about the movie… heh. When Underworld first came out, it looked fairly interesting for an entertainment movie. A little background and confession on my end. I used to be huge fan of vampires when i was in my teens. I was sick lol. I even bought a huge encyclopedia on vampires.. I don’t know where it’s kept now. Then i decided to grow up. Anyway so being a fan of vampires, I had to watch it. Storyline was the same old thing which is vampires are not on friendly terms with the Werewolves / Lycans. Cause vampires are seen like the more superior monster or whatever. Unerdworld 2: Evolution was just a sequeal to Underworld and it was so so. Having said that I didn’t expect Underworld 3: Rise of Lycans to be any better than the first two movies. I was wrong… I enjoyed it thoroughly. The storyline was pretty good as it know tells you how the war between the two monsters first started. The beginning of any piece of history is probably the best part. Personally I think the third installment was one of the better films from the franchise. Michael Sheen did a good job as the tormented new breed of werewolves who has a romantic love affair with Viktor’s ( Bill Nighy ) daughter Sonja (Rhona Mitra). This was mentioned very briefly in Underworld 1.

I’m all for make up to make a person look weirder or scarier or whatever but I was a tad dissappointed when for the vampires and werewolves transformation scenes – and all i saw was… ahhh blue contacts.. so obvious.

The fight scenes were beautifully edited. There was one part where Sonja and Lucian was fighting with either werewolves or the vampires and all you is almost a very silent sword fight. Great! cause these cretures are meant to have lightning reflexes with fluid movements. Each clash and clang of the sword was more of a swish followed by some very gaya-tistic slow motion move. 

You can also see why they chose Rhona Mitra as she looks like an exact clone of Kate Beckinsale. Don’t you see the resemblance?

What I love about this movie or rather the reason it impressed was firstly, the depth of the two main characters relationship with one another was very well played. It is because of this forbidden bond between the two that you get a bigger understanding as to how and why the war started. Like I said before I’m usually on the side of the vampires (yeah they look way cooler than a drooling werewolf). But with Underworld, you see that the vampires are painted in the bad light, due to their political reasons and elitist attitude. The Lycans here are actually the creatures you will feel pity towards. Which gives even more reason for the audience to feel and see the sheer pain of the tragic love birds. 

Second reason. It makes you want to watch the first two Underworld movies again, just so you get a refresher of the story. Good job on that! I give it two thumbs for it is worth while watching. Images are all taken from the facebook fan page. Btw the director of the movie is Patrick Tatopoulos. For those of you he is filmographer for I Am Legend and if watch carefully there is one very specific angle shot that is exactly similar to that of I Am Legend in Underworld 3. See if you can spot it and tell me hehe. :)

Made of Honour Was A Blast!!

After the whole.. I don’t know what to wear – , followed by curling my head with hopeless curlers for over an hour, only to find out that my hair was still straight, and my feet hurting from stilettos… The night at JW Marriot was still a BLAST! The whole “Made of Honour”, starring Patrick Dempsey, event brought to us bloggers by Nuffnang,(Read Here for Nuffnang Post) was a lot of fun. Let’s take a walk down memory ‘aisle’ and revisit the events of the night before. ^_^ Prepare thyself. This is another heavy picture post ^_P http://picasaweb.google.com/Aronil/MadeOfHonour2008 I can’t tell you how tiring this post was hahahah. and I’m still waiting for me DGMB group pic!!! Where is it!!! All the ones i have are either blur or someone moved!!! The night was a blast and I have only Nuffnang to thank for.. Dudes you RAWK!!!!! As always ^_^.. and of course Nick Dorian too hehhehe for bringing me along. Till the next event which is… next week… my gosh haha. By the way.. the DGMB-ians are featured on the Nuffnang blog woots! lookie lookie.. i got the group pic  ^_^

Made Of Honour DGMBians

And for those who have yet to see “Made of Honour” starring the Grey’s Anatomy Star, Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. Here’s a little taste ^_^.. it was a sweet movie.. predictable but sweet.
