Today is one of those days that I will dare to touch on politics. I dislike politics because of the way it is played in my own country and also because i find it messy. But today is a real history in the making. Today is the day that The United States of America really shows what it means to be a democratic society. Today is the day the votes of all those who believe in a free nation have been counted. Today is the day Barack Obama becomes the first African-American President of the USA – One of the most powerful countries in the world. The people there have voted for change and they got it.

I am not a part of that country, but watching Obama and the people whom he was giving his victory speech to. I couldn’t help but feel partially excited. I don’t want to think that Obama is like some ‘saviour’ or something because change will take time to proceed. However he gives a sense of newness..something fresh and hope for something better. In my own general thought, people in America know whom and what they are voting for. Obama may be the person to bring about some real change.

What is also really an eyeopener to me is that in the US elections. There is no such thing as race that defines who you are. Which is really admirable. In my own country, because we are so categorised (for silly reasons honestly), we go about this concept that if you are of a certain race only then you are permitted for the rights of something. In fact if we were to go abroad, racism is a huge offence. But why is it here race is so important? Aren’t we all the same people? With the same kind of feelings and rights? I compare it with my own country’s political election… The parties here.. people didn’t feel like voting for the ‘one in power all the time’ and they just wanted a different option. How much would that option bring about change no one knows. But it felt almost like as though the people voted away from the ‘one in power all the time’ just because. Those are just my thoughts.  What ever it is, history has been made, this year. And hopefully with Obama sitting there, the good changes can spread on into other countries.   Congratulations to Obama and his campaign!
Literally. I know that one has to do all they can for their campaigns, but I think this is really overwhelming. This is the drive back to my area at willyou take a look at the highway and what is plastered all over the place? On every single piller, under the bridge, all small bits of grass that is left and on every tree.

political pollution

political pollution banners

political pollution under bridge Yes i know it’s blur and yes i took this driving hence it is blur.

Posters, banners…my gosh They are just sprayed everywhere and in my very honest opinion it looks like an extreme mess. The least they could is to put up their posters properly. Why simply put. Do they actually think that as long as their sign is seen people will vote for them? Seeing an advert or a poster doesn’t mean you will buy their product, the most it’ll do is let the image of your product stay in your head for a bit a picture will not make the individual convert from a viewer to a consumer. Same goes with political campaigns. The political standpoints would be the selling point and the campaign will be successful in getting votes if they have some good solid visions that could benefit everyone and the country as a whole. So seeing tour different parties spraying all sorts of print material in the area, doesn’t exactly make me want to shout whoopee.

political mess

Rather all this had made the area look terrible. You see that pole? My gosh it is bending down so much to the point it could get into the way of a car. And that poster.. it’s not even placed properly, it is bent and twisted beyond recognition…. In fact there is one flag pole that is bent in a very dangerous manner, a car could really knock into it, if it’s placed back upright, don’t have a picture of that though. Sigh…
