I’m having a ball of a time doing double rehearsals. Hahaha but I have to make a huge thank you out to Colin for working his magic around the busy schedules of us who are now involved with Footstool Players for this end of the year coming performance “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.

What’s it about? This time Crazy Little Thing Called Love, will be a bout a bunch of short skits performed by 7 of us actors, regarding topics that are about love or at least relationships between people. It focuses a lot on the communication levels between new couples, steady couples and family members…

Anyway here’s what we look like while practicing for the show heh.

Here we have Colin and Soon Wei doing their piece. I won’t say which one But it was farney!!!

Soon Wei trying to act like all so serious and macho.

Colin given tips to Soon Wei on how he can be campy and macho at the same time.

Jon Tan busy directing the two to reproduce a reenactment of “8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter” ^_P

This is the nearly completed result. Nearly…. actually far from it haha. Still a long way more to go.

Disclaimer I’m letting out a bomb here.

I want to say this, I am sick… Sick and tired of the how being pretty means popular.

I’m sick and tired of how everything in this world is deemed upon looks to first get around. I’m sick and tired of males oogling drooling over females just because they have to hills at the top and two hills at the bottom. I’m sick and tired that because these males have a fantasy of how women are suppose to look, or how they want their women to look, it has caused girls to become insecure with who they are.

I’m sick and tired to have to hear how women are put down just because of the way they look. I’m sick and tired of the fact of how some girls are given more attention than another just because – just -just because one girl happens to be slightly prettier. It is degrading, insulting and unfair if any body were to treat another person differently just because they are either to chubby, or have zits on their face, or happen to not be super HOT!

I hate the fact on how some people rate one another on their looks. Let me tell you a story of how I was rated.

I had a friend in class, i shall name her Silin and she had a boyfriend who happened to be from the same school as us, whom I shall name as Robby. I was hanging out at Silin’s house and this being her first bf, she gave him a call and was all girly. Thats fine, until of course she had to ask this “Robby, if you were to rate me in looks how would you rate me,” she mushed on the phone. On the other side Robby gave her an answer “Ten out of ten”…Like duh. Then she insisted very much on what was MY rating. She even asked it out loud in front of me to him. Even he was in an awkward situation. If he says I’m a ten he die.. if he says I’m not a ten i’ll get hurt. But hey… suck it up and accept the facts eh? Needless to say after she kept pestering him, he gave an answer. I got a seven out of ten”

Not bad eh… sure but how do you think a person will feel when you rate their looks. Bad enough, we are visual creatures and so the want to look good is always there. If someone so much as says somethings off on your physique… wow… you can so feel the pinch.

Makes me wonder why it is, that some celebrities or people just don’t give a care anymore on how they look. Why bother trying to look good, when it takes so much of work and then you are still going to be seen as the person called the “pretty gene”.

And you know pageants? I think they are painful to girls. Why are beauty pageants celebrated so much international and why can’t it be for Guy pageants as well? Why do the women have to be subjected to something like the looks to get by….

I’m going through a few things in my head right now and this has been an accumulated thought process that kinda just blew up today. It got heightened even more when I was looking at Estee Lauder model search which is on right now. One of us made a comment of how some of the girls have potential because of the looks.

But i argue that for modeling it’s not about looks but rather how well you can pull of a pose for the camera. Cause in the end that pose is going to get someone to buy a product. Looks sure.. but hello there is photoshop.

Then Randy Khoo gave a lovely comment on girls trying out for modeling here in KL.

“To be frank, beauty doesn’t count these days…

Coz EVERY pretty girl all over the country will aim to come KL and make a break…
Everywhere also leng looi… so common la…

Skin deep beauty just means that you have good genes… Nothing else..
Good make up means you got skill and money…

What’s rare is :
Good Energy, A great Personality & a great Outlook of Life…
That Win Pageants my friend… hahahaha”

I throw my hat of to that and also clap. Cause I’m glad for once I get to hear some sort of understanding by the opposite gender and an even compassionate one at that. It’s true, if you have personality. My gosh it doesn’t matter how you look on the outside, but people will be able to see you look beautiful even from the inside. To see an inside beauty shine right out, is rare, but it is possible. To me, that’s beauty and not the “pretty gene”.
