The new season of So You Think You Can Dance, the Malaysian version, is back again on 8TV. Auditions were out like about a month or so back and tonight was the first time it was aired live on TV. After the dancers have been stationed it some forbidden area away from everyone else and the internet (The horror!!) for a good one month.

So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia

I went there to support a friend, who is in the TOP 20 of SYTYCD season 2, Raymond Liew. So we managed to get tickets to go see and cheer him, as well as the rest of the dancers on.

I was suppose to meet one of his friend Wan Yeu, to collect tickets the tickets, but we arrived a tad bit late… because of a ‘somebody’.. ahem.. We made it in time, so I forgive you! :P Min Li and Tony were already there waiting for us at the bottom of rooms. It was quite a big crowd with the 8TV crew only allowing family and friends of the dancers in first. We were called base on the name of the dancers like..”Supporters of so and so.. here please”.

Us waiting at the bottom of the Ruums

Here we are finally inside and we are directly in front of the stage. Or at least my sister and I. Min Li was standing right behind me. And woman charge your camera next time!! :P

Can You see Min Li and I taking snaps of ourselves?

Mervin, Tony, Giden, and Min Li.

Another poser shot of the group

I thought this pic was so cute hehe. My bro Lincoln, me, Nessa and Reuben.

Woop a doop.. wooop a doop

By the way if you look at the live video on 8TV. I’m somewhere way in front of the crowd with my sister and Min Li trying to cover her face. haha… ish you can see my mouth go like.. “wo wo wo wo”.. lol

I have much to say but i’ll save that for another post on So You Think Can Dance Malaysia Season 2.

I discovered this song from So You Think You Can Dance Season 3, with Lacey and Neil dancing a contemporary piece by Mia Michaels. It is so incredibly beautiful and it’s one of the most moving pieces I have ever seen on stage. It made me cry too. The mood was perfect, the choreography was kept simple, and the song is incredible. They really just performed it like they were in another world altogether. Have a look first at the dance. Now have a thought on the lyrics of the song. The song is called Time by Billy Porter. It’s a beautiful beautiful song. I can’t get over it right not. It’s so incredibly touching….I need a moment. I can’t express enough what is going through my head, but it’s just swooning with emotions…sigh..

What is time? Is it the autumn leaves that change? Or the snow that floats from the sky

What is Time? Is it the air we breathe? Or the wings that teach The new born bird to fly

Who can tell? I don’t know Will we change? Will we grow?

What is time? Is it eternity In heaven Or just a hope for peace on earth

Where’s the time Gone in a blink of an eye But with every blink a birth

We live We learn We love In time We give We urn We grow

In time

Time for change Its time to care It’s not too late Don’t despair Reach inside your heart

To find the joy and love To share with all mankind For all we know

All we have Is time

You know out of all the  reality shows that I have watched on TV – or my computer for that matter. There has got to be only one show in my entire life that I think is most rewarding and inspiring to watch. And that is So You Think You Can Dance. Reason i say this is because, unlike American Idol which is of course a joy to watch too.. but I have found it, in a way becoming to commercialise (where I am not to keen to see what people do anymore because they are more keen on getting on tv to make fool of themself, like this dude.

American Idol Weirdo I mean what the heck??? What i love so much about the show is that not only do you actually learn about different variations of dance, but you get to see the people who really put their heart and sole into something they love so much. And that touches me, they practically breathe the air called dance and they enjoy living every moment of it. Dance is probably one of my most favourite means of expression other than actual paintings and writing. To see how the human body is contorted into all sorts of manner to express a story. Is simply amazing. When people ask why do some of us bother so much with the art. Well i want you then to take a look at these young people who fight and work so hard because of their passion for dance. Best part of it all is that they are going to make or can make a living of this joy. Isn’t that just great!?

So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 I couldn’t find a group picture of the rest, but you get my drift. A bunch of talented and passionate performers. Furthermore, the inspiration that you get from just watching these people… is more than I shall ever get from watching other so called Reality shows. So You Think You Can Dance for me really speaks about the right kind of attitude that people should have when they want to do something.  You don’t have the Diva-ish manner that you get from shows like America’s Next Top Model…well at least they haven’t shown it anyway and even the judges said there is none. Over the past episodes of SYTYCD the dancers have just gotten better and better, there is no plateu so far. And I will say that I absolutely love the judging panel on SYTYCD. What I love so much, (even if it is fake), that they care about the community of nurturing the arts scene even more. They want to see people grow and build succesful careers and become artistic legends in the making. If you really really like something, work hard at it and your passion will just shine through. This goes for anything at all :)

I have been watching So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m going to be inspired to write two posts here. My first one I want to talk about are bodies. The human bodies, yes we have people with fabulous bodies all over the world. But in general I think the people with the best bodies, in my honest opinion have got to be a tie between dancers and gymnasts. I mean ok, we have the fabulous bodies from celebrities, but they are stuck to making sure they look good. Dancers and Gymnasts however, i feel natural build a fantastic body because of the athletic movements they do. They have absolutely the best bodies in terms of proportion, like muscle mass, leanness and all the right curves in the right areas, like so. I’m not going to say much, but just look at the bodies ok. Beautifuly chiseled healthy and lean physics…. oooohh. Look here at some of these gymnasts. The gymnasts are not overly bulky as some athletic people are.  Granted that they are more well developed on the top for the girls because of maybe the beam work. But aii aii.. look at that waist.
