A much anticipated movie it is: Avatar the movie. Not too be confused with Avatar the last Airbender. I watched the movie last night and i will say that it left me glued to my seat. It had strong actors, fair script, wonderful editing, gorgeous ‘backdrops’ rendered in CG and a mesmerizing soundtrack. The movie was made with a budget of 230million and about 5 years to produce. Synopsis in short An ex marine, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is ported to the world of Pandora so that he can take on a research project which is to understand the indigenous clan called the Na’vi, a humanoid tribe. The project is funded by Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribis) and he is trying to come to a compromise with the Na’vi, with the aid of the research scientist Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) and military Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang). Instead the ways of communication turn into a battle between the humans and the Na’vi. Jake steps into his new life as an Avatar and meets one of the local people, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) who at first wants to kill him. But instead teaches him the ways of their tribe. Along the way Jake has to decide where his loyalty rides, to the people who hired him or the people who have brought him in as family? **Oh and how cool is this you have a Pandora Encyclopedia. Think it like another Star Wars in the making? Acting Superb performance by all actors. Considering that nearly 80% of the film was done with CGI, i can understand how hard it would be for the actors, to try and imagine a magnificent world when all they have around them are grey walls. Avatar movie image (2) Worthington, is becoming a fast rising star and he’s showing his skills as an actor gallantly. Sigourney does not disappoint at all in this film as the sarcastic hard-headed no nonsense scientist. But the one that blew me away had to be Zoe Saldana. avatar_zoe_mocap-thumb-585xauto-7962 I’m very very impressed and happy at how she is growing in the industry. Despite the fact that a lot of motion capture (yes i do that for a living ^_^) is involved, it doesn’t deter the actors from showing the raw emotions they need for their role. Avatar-Movie-Wallpapers CGI Amazing! Everything looked very very real. As real as it can get anyway. It was almost magical as you stepped in the world of Pandora. Everytime a character stepped on the ground, a part of the ground will light up. Nothing cheap about the effects here. You can tell i’m taking more about the background and environment in the movie. The trees, mountains, skies and weird animals were gorgeous! As for the alien race, well they weren’t perfect, but as far as animation goes, it was still a very well done job. If you look close enough you will be able to recognise the facial features of the actors who played the alien race. I didn’t know Zoe was going to be in it, but judging from the mannerism and how Neytiri was made, it was not hard for me to put two and two together and recognise it was her. Being a Guild Wars fan, i couldn’t help but feel it was like the landscape of Ascalon and Action Jam packed with bows flying in the air next to bombs that are ready to explode. I loved the scenes here.  Just watch the show and you’ll get it. (pictures courtesy of OfficialAvatarMovie’s photostream) Soundtrack What can i possibly even say? It is James Horner, the man who composed the Titanic OST and made the Celion Dion song “My Heart Will Go On” shoot to stardom and irritate me as i could never NOT hear it whenever i went out for that entire year! So yes the music is fantastic. With hints of tribal, asian, and sci-fi elements. Think Battlestar Gallactica OST. Listening to the theme song “I See You” written by James Horner and sung by Leona Lewis is enough to get my hair standing :) All one needs for a 10 star rated film. But i will give it 9/10 because some small parts felt just a tad draggy and also storyline was not entirely original. Imagine Avatar to be a mix of Pocahontas, Titanic and Atlantis all into one. Still the movie was told beautifully by James Cameron.

On Sunday I meet up with Tech Idiots to guest on their show. I’ve always been keen to go on some tech show, and portray how geeky i am :P And well.. i’ll just say i was surprised lol. With two funny guys, who love their tech and just want to share their knowledge in the most laymen of ways to others. Tech Idiots is produced by Kelvin Lim (PR dude from Fleishman-Hillard) and Wern Shen (editor of Lowyat.net).

So far Tech Idiots:Uncensored have only made 6 episodes – me being in the 6th ep. They are working boys so forgive them if they can’t make a video everyday. I was there i saw the tedious process just to make the short 13 minutes ok.

Needless to say it was very impromptu but i had loads of fun doing the show with them. Even more so when Wern Shen allowed me to play with the PS3 Need For Speed: Shift… I suck at it :( but hey i tried.

Watch what went down that day.

Tune in soon to see my interview with the guys who started out Tech Idiots: Uncensored. In the mean time be sure to head on to facebook and watch their episodes every two weeks on Monday :)

[custom_field limit="1" between=", " /]What matters most in a persons life? Is it family? Is it your career? Is it financial freedom? Is it what people think of you? Is it your idealistic dreams? What really matters most? I’ve questioned that a lot this year.. and maybe i’m still struggling with an answer. Some people i guess would think any one of those are important enough to be the thing that matters most in ones lifetime. Everyday we work hard to achieve something but what are we really trying to strive for? Is it for acceptance when we do a good job? Is it to find the ‘perfect soulmate’? Is it so we can say to ourselves oh great i’ve made this much of money this year, and this can go straight to my savings? What the heck is the point of all of that…? Materialistically it’s pointless, cause at the end of the day you can’t take anything with you when you pass on. Finding the love of your life, it’s only going to be taken away from you when you pass on. What are you really going to say at the end of the day with your life… However reading Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven® Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?“. I know there is more to life than all that was stated above. I don’t really know who to explain it with meager words… nor with out some people thinking that it is cheesy… Just to share a little bit. This year was a topsy turvy time. I was disappointed a lot, still am in some ways. Disappointed with my own behavior, dissapointed with the people around me. People whom you’ve known for a long while let you down. Could be a close friend, could be a relative.. doesn’t matter. Anyone can let you down. Disappointed with work. Things where you were once comfortable will be shaken. Things that you thought were fine are actually not. Your securities in work won’t be there for you… All those are variables. But there is only one person Who won’t and He kept me sane… My Mighty Father in Heaven. Everything else in life is a variable and I’m glad that He isn’t. He is for ever constant. He will never change. And that is why I realise that you should live for no one else but for the Father. He’s the only thing that is significant, to work for, to strive for, to love. For He is Love… What matters most in life… the people whom you can try to love… “Love is a choice you make and you are blessed when you love even if you don’t feel like it.” – kerrvillechurch Oh Lord, I pray that you will teach me your ways. Teach me to forgive and teach me to love. Even when i do not feel like loving. Teach me to be exactly what Love is, as it is stated in you Book of Life. Love is everything, for without Love i am nothing.
Aaron shared this video with a bunch of us last week. It’s actually a short film called Signs, that speaks about simple communication between people.  The concept is a simple and touching effort to show how as individuals we crave for some form of relation with one another.  The short was done by Publicis Mojo and @RadicalMedia. Starring Nick Russell and Kestie Morsaai. Directed by Patrick Hughes and with a beautifully composed soundtrack by DG Music House .  If I’m not mistaken this was originally an add for Schweppes but it was then turned into a 12 minute short. Either way it’s straight to the point and as the viewer you would smirk at certain bits in the film. It has that same magical element like Wall-E, where there is no dialogue between people. Non verbally anyway. Imagine it like as if you are talking to one another on Irc, msn, or Sms. Only difference is that you can actually see what the other person looks like when they reply.  Silly isn’t it. With all the words in the world. All an individuals just need someone to talk, communicate with them. Flowery, overly elaborate words aren’t necessary. But just to connect with someone – that’s important. I don’t want to over analyse something this simple. However when you tihnk about our own generation now. With our urban lifestyle that is fast paced with barely much time to think about the simple things in life… Maybe that’s why a visual like Signs makes us pause for a moment to think about our own sense of belonging in society. Are we alone in our life? Is there anyone special out there for us? What if i find that person but I lose him or her, just because i didn’t jump at the chance… Questions like those. Here are a few screenshots of Signs.

I’m a fan of Miley Cyrus and I do enjoy her cutesy wutesy song ’7 things’. While browsing on Youtube today I found this parody of the song uploaded, directed, edited and sung by this Youtuber called Venetian Princess. Her real name is Jodie Rivera. Most of her videos are parodies of a number of music videos. She does have a couple of her own songs and music videos though.  She’s terribly pretty (that’s a good thing not a bad thing :P ) and her lyrics have some great humour to it.  This song is just cute. Not poignant or anything just cute. Since it talks about the 7 things –  or rather more than 7 things – that guys don’t have to do, but girls do them. All because we wanna look good for the men. lol. Typical.  Here are the lyics to the Miley Cyrus – 7 Thing – Parody.  7 things that guys don’t have to do! ouch! ouch! Its time for me to say this; addressing all you guys. Except for all you Drag Queens who deserve a nobel prize But the straight guys, they don’t realize what we go through Everyday; and its alot. Now its time for all us females to remind you just incase you all forgot.   THE SEVEN THINGS THAT GUYS DON’T HAVE TO DO! 1. Shave Legs 2. Give Birth 3. Aunt Flow 4. Wear Skirts 5. Wax Armpits Hey it HURTS! 6. Wear pantyhose 7. Paint your toes too! 8. Wear high heels 9. Pluck brows 10. skip meals 11. Count pounds 12. some girls have to carry heavy mounds! -_-”   …We’re way past seven now, but ill keep going anyhow! 13. Uncomfy thongs 14. Tight bras 15. Tampons 16. blow your money on beauty salons 17. Flat Iron burns 18. And health concers  from hair dye fumes!  … and the reason why we do the crazy things that we do!- We do it for you. ^_^   Sometimes we’re hard to deal with That- we can’t deny Just think of what we go through See- thats the reason why….. (repeat) —The End—

See all the things we ladies have to go through!!

So don’t complain next time! Hmph :P What I also love about this youtuber is that she gives credit where it needs to go. For all the people that helped her make the video. and of course after parodying a video, she will encourage viewers to go to the real artists website/page whatever.  This young lady from Vietname is now busy recording her first album and one of her songs entitled ‘Somewhere Else’ is currently ‘the’ song on Samsung Behold cellphones.  Go check out her official site here at VPrincess.
