Well Aronil.com has finally gotten a facelift.

It took me a while to get a template which I could tweak much, but that’s not the purpose of my post for now. See part of the new theme, will cause me to use the custom fields section which is a part i usually avoid due to sheer laziness. But i decided to get cracking at it as it would be a lot more visually easier and faster to load up on the site. At least I hope so.

Originally I had inserted a section of coding which I got from Webdesigner Wall on how to place custom images in your posts. Which worked brilliantly, however there was a slight problem, I didn’t know how to adjust where my images would be aligned. Great new prob eh.

That was until I googled this “customising images from custom fields” and it brought me to this Scribu.net. What Scribu has done is create a wordpress plugin to make eaisier for people like me or complete noobies with wordpress to place images for your custom field. It works like such.

This is what it looks like when you write a new post. You will find it at the bottom after activating it.

You can do some further tweaking. But I haven’t bothered here cause I’m quite happy with whatever it is set to at default. So go give it a try out.

I did write at one point the good thing about Blogger, but now I would like to go back to being anti-blogger.

I hate Blogger’s uploading images process.

It is entirely unfriendly, first off you have to upload images one by one, which sucks. The other thing I hate, is once you upload it thats it, you can’t retrieve it back to edit the placing, the size, the link it’s suppose to lead to.. Nada! No flexibility ick ick ick!

And then once you upload the images… where do they go? I have no idea… they just disappear

Unlike WordPress that has image plugins to customize how you would like upload images. The one I’m using is Flexible upload By Antoine Choppin, Version: 1.9. Why do i love that plugin well it allows me to do this. I can upload mutiple images at once,Describe them however I want and set how big I want the thumbnail to be.

Furthermore at least, I know where my images go to when I upload them on wordpress, it’s in my server.

The thing about webdesigns or picky people. We love customizations Ohh the joy of customizing

Finally I have been mucking around like forever with a plugin for my Picasa album and finally I found one plugin which I think is an absolute must have for anybody who blogs, has a picasa account and doesn’t want the fuss and muss to upload pictures, followed by adding captions.

Honestly adding pictures to a post is the most tiring thing, because sometimes alignment may run and then you have to erase. Or worse you do the ol’ Ctrl+z command which works on most things, but doing that sometimes may cause your post to be wiped out to an earlier point with much lesser text.

So anyways the plugin I’m going to fully recommend is the KB Easy PicasaWeb plugin created by Adam R Brown.

Why am I recommending it? Because I think it will help loads in saving time and blogging shouldn’t be a bout hassle.

KB Easy PicasaWeb is the easiest, fastest, most visitor-friendly Picasa plugin for wordpress.

Easiest: This plugin does not require you to insert funny markup into your posts–all you need is a link to a PicasaWeb album, and the plugin does the rest.

Fastest: The plugin uses efficient caching to keep your blog’s pageloads quick.

Most visitor friendly: The plugin uses PHP, not JavaScript, so it won’t cause errors or annoying movement when loading. (If you’ve used JS-based PicasaWeb plugins, you’ll know what I mean.)

How it Works

This what you have to do:

Downloadthe plugin

Write a post (or edit an old one). Somewhere within it, create a link to a PicasaWeb album (on a line by itself).

Done. This plugin finds your link, recognizes it as a PicasaWeb link, and converts it into a nicely-formatted series of photos (with captions). If you want the images bigger or smaller just head over to Options->KB Picasa and fiddle with the numbers.

Here are screenshots of what it’ll look like.

This is what the admin page will look like.

This is what it looks like on the Picasa album.

Then see how its so neatly arranged in this post. Take a look at my Chinese New Year post and you’ll see that even my caption from the Picasa album has been imported in to the post as well. SO cool!

Hope it helps you out too.
